San Francesco della Vigna — Attraction in Venice

The church has a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere with very harmonious proportions. Depending on which version of history you believe, it was designed around De harmonia mundi's principle of three as a magical number or around the number seven. In either (or neither) case, the spacious and light-filled interior makes it quite extraordinary.

Several paintings and one of the chapels have been restored by the wonderful Save Venice Inc..

There are several notable paintings but my favorite was the Virgin and Child Enthroned, by Fra Antonio da Negroponte. The color, details, and overall serenity are a wonderful complement to the church's general atmosphere. You can pay 0.20 euros to have a light on for about three minutes. While it's not absolutely necessary, it does let you enjoy the work more, and the funds help...

For me, this church (monastery) is one of the top locations of Venice, forget the crowded downtown, this forgotten (or at least not that much visited) place is just an island of silence and beauty. Just enter the majestic church, or the convent garden, and you will be transported to another world... Plus, just by a chance, you can visit a small chapel only to realise that you are facing a masterpiece of...

Πήγα σήμερα το πρωί στις 9 και ήτανε κλειστή.Στην πόρτα έχει πινακίδα που γράφει ότι ανοίγει στις 8,θα σας δείξω τη φωτογραφία!Τελικά άνοιξε στις 10,είχε πολύ ησυχία καθόλου κόσμο .Πήγα και προσκύνησα τον Άγιο Φραγκίσκο και μετά το άφθαρτο σώμα της Αγίας Χριστίνας . Το 1252 το Λείψανο της Αγίας Χριστίνας κατατέθηκε στη Μονή του Αγίου Μάρκου στο Τορσέλλο και το 1340 μεταφέρθηκε στο Ναό του Αγίου Ματθαίου στο Μουράνο.

Το 1435 ο Πάπας Ευγένιος Δ’ διέταξε την μεταφορά του στο Ναό του Αγίου Αντωνίου, επίσης στο Τορσέλλο και το 1793 μεταφέρθηκε στη Μονή της Μάρτυρος Ιουστίνης Βενετίας.

Το 1810 μεταφέρθηκε στο Ναό του Αγίου Φραγκίσκου της Αμπέλου,όπου και σήμερα φυλάσσεται, μέσα σε μία κρυστάλλινη λάρνακα.Η Αγία Χριστίνα γιορτάζει στις 24 Ιουλίου.Στο ναό μετά την Αγία σε ένα παρεκκλήσι υπάρχει ο υπέροχος πίνακας του Giovanni Bellini .είναι πάρα πολύ σκοτεινά δεν φαίνετε καθόλου!Πρέπει να ρίξεις ένα κέρμα 0,50 λεπτά για να ανοίξουν τα φώτα και να τον θαυμάσεις.τα φώτα διαρκούνε πολύ ώρα.Αξίζει!!!!Είναι πολύ κοντά από τον Άγιο Γεώργιο αλλά δύσκολο στα στενάκια να το βρείτε πρέπει να ρωτήσετε ή με GPS .Από τη στάση celestia είναι 1 λεπτό με τα πόδια!!!Το κεράκι ,ηλεκτρικό και όχι σαν την Ελλάδα κοστίζει 0.30...
