Kamiharu Hot Spring — Attraction in Beppu

Amazing local onsen which surprisingly apart of the public onsen has a private family bath as well!! For ¥500 (total, not per person so two people is ¥250 each) you can have your private onsen for one hour (they have just one so if it's occupied you might need to wait a bit). Very clean facilities, the water is really hot so make sure to add quite a lot of cold water. You need to bring your own towel and shampoos. Onsen stamp at the reception, right after you open the door (male or female section), the staff is very friendly. The toilet is outside. Two spaces for car parking. Went right before closing and it was just me for a bit. A local that came in later informed me that part of the changing area is visible from outside/the men’s entrance area, which I had noticed upon entering. Some may not feel comfortable/safe. ・2023年8月25日、これまでも指で数えられないくらい訪問していますが、夏ということもあるのかこの頃朝8時から9時頃の間に伺うとものすごく熱くて入れません。もとから熱い湯でしたがここまでのことはあまり記憶がないほどの状態が数回続きました。 定期入浴の方が朝に利用されないのか今朝も床が乾いており、オーバーフローした湯だけが流れています。水でうめるためにお湯を汲み出して量を減らし、全開で小さな水栓から水を出しますが到底追いつきません。湯を汲み出す腕が真っ赤になります。 湯船に入ることは諦め、水を入れながら洗面器で湯を被り、身体と頭を洗って出ました。 上がって着替えているとご年配の会員の方が見えたので聞いたのですが、出ている湯を完全に止めることは出来ない仕組みらしい。 誰も利用していない間は水道を止めて帰るために、湯だけが補充されてまた熱くなるという繰り返しのようです。
