I first visited this 14 years ago (summer 2010), and this was my first time visiting after the revamp. I visited in winter, Feb 2024.
I found it less scary than the first visit:
Your partner / groupmates matter A LOT. My partner, a medical professional who's familiar with cadavers and blood, was totally unafraid. They found the mannequins 'too fake', and marched stoicly through the whole thing in 20 min (estimated time for most people is 40min).
Please find a partner who is willing to take time to enjoy the set and sound design. Even better if they scream obligingly at all the jumpscares instead of trying to scare the poor actors. It'll make the 4000jpy you have to pay on top of the freepass worth it.
When i first visited as a solo traveller i found it a lot more terrifying.
there were fewer actors and more mannequins. Maybe it was cold and too difficult for the actors to hide for long periods of time? But other commentors seem to agree.
I think the older version had the smell of chemicals, recordings of babies crying, and relied less on jumpscares.
Overall, I wish it's as scary as the older version. I hope there can be more actors scaring the visitors in...
Read moreLoved it!! Atmosphere and set was so well done. Someone had to be escorted out in a wheelchair whilest we waited. It really is terrifying!!
I get scared easily but my husband doesn't and we both couldn't even walk through the first hallway. We waited for the next group and asked if we could join them and we all went through together when we could all holding onto each other. Me and my husband are english and the group where japanese so we couldn't speak but we all knew to stick together. It made the experience so much fun!!
Ive seen people complain about not many jump scares but that makes you so much more on edge and scared. Some actors will chase you so be prepared to run.
Would do it again any day!! I don't trust some of the bad reviews esspecially saying they got through quickly and wasn't scared. The quicker groups where more scared and ran through. You get split up with lifts at some points and there is often a little que so to get through quick you would need to ask people to go infront but if you wasn't scared you wouldn't...
Read moreIn a trip to see all things scary and uncanny, one has to stop by one if the longest and scariest haunted houses in Japan.
Standing at 1hr in duration, this haunted house is filled to the brim with scares, curses, ghosts, gore, and screams.
I enjoyed every step as the patrons around me screamed in horror as ghost after ghost after us. Some stops were so scary, those in front refused to continue forward building the suspension.
A very fun ghost house.
As for tickets, they sold out quickly so I came early to buy some. It was fortunate as later as I passed by, the wait extended well into the hour range while I waited for 20 min.
And tickets are priced a bit interestingly. Cost is 8000 yen for 4 people. So if you have 2 patrons, it is actually pricier as 2 slots do not get filled. I recommend finding another pair eager for scares and willing to...
