📍 Goryokaku Park, Giappone 🇯🇵 #giappone #visitjapan #travel #lovejapan

## Today I visited Goryokaku in Hakodate, drawn by the promise of vibrant red leaves in late October. The star-shaped fort and its surrounding park are known for their stunning autumn foliage, making it a popular destination for leaf peepers. Upon arrival, the scenery was indeed beautiful, but I was slightly disappointed to find that many of the leaves were still green. While some trees were beginning to show hints of red and gold, the full spectrum of autumn colors wasn’t quite there yet. It seems that the peak color season was still a week or two away. That said, Goryokaku itself is a lovely site to explore. The historical architecture, combined with the serene park setting, creates a peaceful atmosphere. Walking along the pathways, you can appreciate the unique star shape of the fort and enjoy the views of the surrounding landscape. In conclusion, if you’re hoping to catch the dazzling reds of autumn, it might be worth checking local forecasts before your visit. However, Goryokaku remains a charming spot to enjoy nature and history, no matter the season.

Have you ever been to a place filled with cherry blossoms(Sakura)? If not, Goryōkaku is a good choice. The cherry blossoms there will truly make you open minded. So what are you waiting for? Put this on your bucket list. I’ve been to Goryōkaku the last April. Unluckily, the first time I went there, the cherry blossoms were not blooming yet. After a week(which was May), I went there again and the star shape was totally pink! That really amazed me. If can, I will visit Goryōkaku every season to see the difference between them. I think the Goryōkaku is the most architectural place I’ve ever been. Kindly recommend you to have a visit there.>< Reminders:You can also go up to the Goryōkaku tower to see the entire view of the Goryōkaku Park

A wonderful, historic place. Designed in 1855 by Takeda Ayasaburō, now open to the public and restaurated in an old fashioned way without nails. Very informative and educational. Worth a visit. The fort was built by the Tokugawa shogunate to protect Tsugaru Strait against a possible invasion by the Russian fleet and was the capital of a short-lived republic Ezo. I think during spring, where sakura is all over the place, the view will be magical. Visited the fort in winter and it was a bit muddy. Make sure to clean should shoes before putting them into the provided bag before you enter the fort (300 Yen entry fee).

Goryokaku is definitely something more than meet the eye. Through the picture, she seems pretty normal at first, without any major castle tower, but then when you are actually there, you will be overwhelmed by the spectacular scenery and the true beauty of the nature. White frozen river channel covered with snow, bridges joining the outside to the inside of the 'star'. On the Goryokaku Tower, the aerial view proves the special historical site worthy of its name, silently telling the story of the past. In short, don't miss it; go take a look, and you will agree with everything I have written here!!

The park was built as a defense against imperialist invasions in the last days of Edo and was the site for a short- lived civil war. Later given over as a park, more than 1,000 cherry trees were planted, making the spot one of the best cherry blossom spots in all Hokkaido. The circumference is 1.8km, very strollable, and there are two bridges to the interior star- shaped fort area. The adjacent tower is 105m tall and has great views of the park and surrounding Hakodate. There are very detailed and well- designed figurines on display portraying some of the important historical events.
