Almost couldn’t find this super hidden cafe near 𝐆𝐨𝐫𝐲𝐨𝐤𝐚𝐤𝐮 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤 in 𝐇𝐚𝐤𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞. The entrance is totally covered by tall bushes and easy to miss until you see people walking in 😅
Our orders 🧾 🎃 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐮𝐦 𝟐𝟓 (𝐏𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐤𝐢𝐧), ¥𝟓𝟓𝟎 🍨 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐢 𝐈𝐜𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐰𝐢𝐜𝐡, ¥𝟑𝟎𝟎 🫘 𝐙𝐞𝐧𝐳𝐚𝐢, ¥𝟔𝟓𝟎
𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐮𝐦 𝟐𝟓 (𝐏𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐤𝐢𝐧) - 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 🎃 Baked pumpkin cheesecake with red beans & diced pumpkins. Imo, the pumpkin flavour is stronger than the cheese here and I also wished the texture is ‘creamier’ as it is kind of crumbly
𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐢 𝐈𝐜𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐰𝐢𝐜𝐡 🍨 Ice cream with white chocolate & raisins sandwiched between crispy biscuits. This is the ice cream version of their signature Marusei Butter Sandwich. A bit on the sweet side for me. The raisins are juicy and have a slight ‘alcoholic’ flavour to them
𝐙𝐞𝐧𝐳𝐚𝐢 🫘 Azuki red bean soup with sticky and chewy baked rice cakes. The red bean soup is a combination of sweet & salty unlike your regular red bean soup 😁
Also got their Marusei Butter Sandwich to try and the cookie is not as crispy as the ice cream version and the butter is not that sweet

The first thing you notice on the way in is that the entire building is behind some privacy trees, so once you get inside you really feel apart from the hustle of the neighborhood. My wife and I say down in the cafe half of the store for some fluffy pancakes and blueberry eclairs. Both were delicious and the service was great. The chairs and tables were cozy, but comfortable.
Next, we walked to the sales floor. Here is the number one reason you MUST visit this place. They sell individually wrapped products. It's a lot of the same stuff you see in other stores and at the same prices, but here you can buy just one and try it before you commit to the 5-10 pack of that treat you read about online and we're considering buying. We bought some single cookies and other treats and then knew we had to get some boxes before we left home. Really great. Service at the sales counter was also very...

Rokatei Goryokaku is one of the loveliest places to take a break when visiting Goryōkaku. The café is bright, calm, and overlooks the peaceful streets around the park. It’s the perfect stop after walking through the historic star-shaped fort.
The sweets here are excellent — classic Rokatei quality. Their cream puffs, mochi, and Hokkaido butter-based pastries are all fresh, not overly sweet, and beautifully made. They also have seasonal desserts and limited items available only in the Hakodate area.
The shop section is great for picking up gifts, and the prices are very reasonable. Staff are polite and helpful, and the overall atmosphere feels very relaxed, almost like a small local tearoom.
A lovely spot to enjoy Hokkaido sweets, rest your feet, and take a quiet moment during your Goryōkaku visit. Highly...
