Mori-no-Fureaikan Hall (Hakone Woodland Museum) — Attraction in Hakone

Even if they don’t had, at the moment of the visiting, any materials in english; one of the persons working there was super kind and accompanied us during the visit to translate and answer our doubts and interests.

We had a very nice visit, definitely a memory that we’ll keep for years. If you enjoy the nature and you are visiting the Hakone area for these reasons it’s a place that you cannot miss. Also a good place to come with the kids (there’s a wood decoration workshop that you can do while visiting the exposition.

My impression is that this place doesn't get many visitors, which is a pretty since it's such a nice location! The exhibition hall is very informative, and it's surrounded by a beautiful little forest with many different paths to walk on. At the same time there are few people, so you get fresh outside air, the smell of the forest, plus peace and tranquility!

箱根フリーパスのエリア内ですが、バス(東海バス)が1時間に1本のみです。箱根港から歩こうとすると歩道がなく路側帯のみの上りの細い道を歩くことになります。スーツケースなどの大きな荷物を持って歩くのは傾斜もありお勧めできません。車があれば車で行く事をお勧めします。

小学生から入場料が必要で、箱根フリーパスの割引があります。木の実のクラフト作り(～500円位)は所要時間1時間程度必要でした。施設の規模としては小さいですが、動物のはく製や年季の入った人形が自動で動くシアターなどがあり、未就学児～小学生で動物や昆虫に興味がある子どもが一緒なら楽しめると思います。 企画展として昆虫の展示があり、大きな水槽に入ったクワガタやチョウの幼虫やさなぎ、たくさんのオタマジャクシなどをじっくり観察する事が出来ました。

やすらぎの森はかなり広く、散策が出来るようです。夕方の訪問だったのとバスの時間の関係上クラフト作りや散策は出来ませんでしたが、外国人や人の多いエリアとは全く違う雰囲気で、とても静かで山の中なので空気も澄んでいる気がしました。 涼しい時期に食べる物持参で来...
