💚 This is the best buy of the day. 🌿💮 Green and super sweet Shine Muscat grapes from Hakone Machi-Ko's Fruit Specialist Shop. This small bunch cost us ¥2000 (SGD25).
🟧 The lady shop owner was a very cheerful, polite and nice person. She was able to speak simple English phrases too.
🍇The grapes are a product from Nagano-ken prefecture (长野县).
🟫 县 ( xian in Mandarin/ ken in Japanese) 💛 It is the FIRST TIME I've eaten grapes that has no sour nor tangy flavour, but only a very intense sweet flavour prevails. 🌳🌳 the history of Shine Muscat Grapes in Japan (🙏🏻 a summary I put together from watching NHK Japan documentaries for over 10 years) 🟧 There is a history behind this Shine Muscat grapes. ▪︎The original farmer cum researcher, he spent 30 years researching and cross-breeding Japanese and American grapes in order to get the perfect grapes.
✳️ In the end, he discovered the Shine Muscat breed, and he shared his research results all over Japan with other farmers.
🔷️ His story is in a NHK documentary. By the time he discovered Shine Muscat, he was almost bankrupt and his farms were also half ruined.
