Skyblue Happo-one Paraglider School — Attraction in Hakuba

They require two people to fly as a visitor. First time I have ever encountered their stupid rule after flying in many countries across the world. Not cool.

It goes completely against the spirit of the sport. Having two people does not in anyway make it “safer”. It’s clearly a rule to discourage visiting pilots.

I went to fly to Hakuba and had the misfortune of visiting this school. I'm a professional paraglider and parachutist and because I don't speak Japanese well I was prevented from flying in Hakuba. I have flown in many places around the world and this was the first time I was asked to speak the local language so I could practice free flight. My impression is that the owner of this school doesn't like foreigners and is more interested in making money with tandem flights....

My pilot was a very interactive , patient and reassuring man. He told me the names of the mountains that he pointed to. After the activity, he dropped me off at a nice restaurant ( which is near the train station) for lunch because I asked for recommendations. I had an amazing time.
