Down to earth but cozy and clean. The owners and staff are very friendly. They may not speak much English but they use translation machine. That didn't stop them from checking on how you like the food. It would be great if you learn a few words like delicious, thank you etc.
Initially just booked the hotel to stay and didn't book any meal. After tried eating breakfast/dinner twice in surrounding I regretted not just stick to the Glad Inn in-house dining (unless you or family just don't do Japanese food). It's so much cheaper but a lot more delicious for dinner. Breakfast is great to start the day for ski.
The Inn has traditional Japanese style communal bathing area with genuine onsen water. Everything is down to earth but I found them cozy and clean not old.
The only thing to aware is you have to carry your ski to happo bus terminus (15 min in ski boots) to take shuttle to beginner slope like sakka slope. It's actually a very close walk (8 min in ski boots) to Nakayama slope. You can buy happo lift pass at the hotel with some discount.

Read moreNice room for the price and area. A 5-8 minute walk to lifts and gondola on Happo One. Shuttle stop for other mountains 3 minute walk from hotel. Onsen was super hot and delightful after a day on the slopes. My boyfriend and I ended up catching a bad flu and the staff was very nice to us, bringing fresh tea and even oranges.
