The place is newly renovated with clean and modern facilities even though it’s exterior looks traditional. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash and hair dryer is provided at no additional charge. Traditional onsen feel with one indoor bath and one routenburo. The water was perfect for the rainy weather. The indoor bath was 40.5°, while the routenburo was 41.5°. On a clear day, you can view the mountains from the indoor bath.

There is a coupon on the Happo no Yu onsen website for ¥100 off your admission fee. The onsen has amazing facilities. Very clean and quiet. There a tatami resting area as well as many chairs. The female changing room is clean and roomy. There are locks for your shoes and bags while you bathe. The onsen itself is beautiful. Hot water flows to an inside and outside bath, with views of the mountain in front of you. The water is clear and hydrogen rich. Beautiful experience. Would come here again. Packed and disgusting :(

From the outside, it looks like a very nice and new facility. However, the foot traffic they get combined with their small size is a pretty bad recipe.

They have 1 indoor and 1 outdoor bath (men's side) and, again, it looks nice and new. However, it was kinda nasty...I felt dirtier than before going in... :(

Maybe it was mold, maybe it was just...a lot of men in one place. Definitely wasn't sulfur, though.

Might be worth a try outside of peak hours (after lifts close, buses leave, etc.) but I can't say I had a good...
