Only a few shop assistants speak even basic English. Everything is set for shopping tourism, several customers run around with luggages, which disturbs normal purchasing. What about implying a luggage storage facility? Full of Chinese tourist, which pledges the whole visit. Loud, pushy, rude customers in a high proportion.
Beware! If you pay by a foreign credit card, Rinku Premium Outlet charges in USD instead of JPY without permission of the customer. As in Japan JPY is the official currency, all charges should be applied in JPY or the currency of your credit card. In most of the cases you could not pick up this trick at all, only when you see your credit card report at home; by luck HSBC sends immediate text messages about credit card transactions.
The problem! Rinku Premium Outlet will exchange your JPY purchase at an unknown rate to USD without your consent and probably applies 3-4% commission. Than HSBC is going to apply a similar rate on exchange of USD to - in my case - AED. Therefore, all credit card purchases going to cost minimum 4-5% more.
In contrary, Alipay, Chinese Credit Union run without any hindrances!
VAT return is a horror story! The shops want to stamp into your passport and glue!! the bill into your passport! If you would allow this, your passport is definitely going to be destroyed. After 10 purchases the passport looks as a Christmas tree! The home return could be a challenge due to the damaged passport!
Customer services are a joke as well! Only one of the attendants was Japanese from 3, the other were Chinese; all having very limited English, which is unacceptable in an international shopping place! They have also not much clue about problem resolution, just telling fairy tales about VAT refunds and international credit card charges.
The prices are quite high, approximately 50% more than in UK or European outlets and reaching the Abu Dhabi ones, which are in the top price range of the world.
In summary, all settings are made to fulfil PRC needs, nothing else matters! Huge disappointment, which have never experienced in...
