Read moreI can see a lot of reviews from locals expressing discomfort towards this hot spring being packed with foreigners. Many have mentioned the staffs there being rude to foreigners too. So I went with the expectation that people will give me the cold shoulder as I am a foreigner. It wasn’t packed the day I went, and the staffs were adequately polite - they even guided me through the entire ticketing process. However, the hot spring itself was disappointing. The place itself is very shabby, the floors in the change rooms were sticky and the bathroom was very dirty - it smelt strongly of urine and the toilet slippers were wet. I also saw a baby cockroach on the infant changing bed…it was not a pleasant environment to feel relaxed in. The hot spring itself was rich in minerals, and the water was as hot as 44 degrees which I can appreciate. There is only body wash and shampoo provided, conditioner was not available. Entry fee was ¥650 per adult and towels were ¥200-500. Parking in the area costed around ¥1000-1500. I feel like it’s not worth the money and hassle coming here, there are cleaner and more relaxing onsen elsewhere. I usually come out of onsen feeling clean and relaxed, but this place made me want to leave asap and I took another shower when I returned to my hotel. The change rooms and toilets were unfortunately...
Read moreI’m very happy with the experience. I visited on a Monday afternoon. There were plenty of empty shoe lockers when I arrived. Once I put my shoes in the shoe locker, I headed to the ticket machine. A worker walked to me right away to make sure I have a towel and helped me purchase the ticket and explained the procedure. The bath room is on the second floor, the lockers were spacious, I was able to put my backpack and clothes in it with no issues. There were around 15 people in the bath room when I visited, it didn’t feel crowded at all. There’re 2 brown water baths, one is 42 Celsius degree (bigger) and one is 44 Celsius (smaller); there is also a clear bath that’s at a much lower temperature. The brown bath did stain my towel a little bit, so just be aware of that. I brought a bath tow, but in hindsight I wish I brought a smaller towel too because you are required to keep a towel with you inside the bath to dry off your hair and body so they can keep the floor as dry as possible. I also did the ¥100 for 10 minutes foot massage machine after the bath, it was totally worth it and it massages your legs as well. Overall, I think it’s well worth a visit, just be sure to visit on weekdays if possible to avoid...
