(castles visited: over 60+)

One of the best castle experiences I've had in Japan. It's a shame that the 2016 earthquake destroyed the castle, but they have turned the tragedy and reconstruction into an evolving experience. As of March 2021 they have fixed a great deal for the damage, but you can also see how much extensive damage still exists.

The park is amazing and beautiful with new structures allow people to walk around the ninomaru and get fairly close to the honmaru. There is a new museam detailing the history of the castle and the damage and reconstruction.

Most castles visits and one and done. This is one I will be glad to come back to every year or so to see how things changing (I just moved...

There was also a food fair on at the time as well. I got to experience a kendo stick competition for the very first time too. All of this was free. Amenities...

Aspacious public area adjacent to the historic Kumamoto Castle in Chūō-ku, Kumamoto City. This park offers a blend of historical significance, cultural events, and natural beauty, making it a popular destination for both locals and tourists.
