You can visit the Kumamoto Castle from the outside for free. Entry into the Castle museum is chargeable. Takes about 1 l to 2 hours to walk round. There is still a lot of restoration work following the earthquake impact. An eye opener to see how how much work goes into the restoration. But there is much of the Castle which is...

前回熊本城訪ねたのは2年前でした。久しぶりに訪ねると再建も進み、桜の季節にはまだ早かったですが、威風堂々した姿を見せてくれました。 前回も感じたのですが、最近の城の中は見せ方に工夫が凝らされており、模型や映像も加わり、お子さんでも楽しく見て回れるようになっていますね。2月には岡山城に行ったばかりですが、こちらも城主の奥方様が、それぞれ自分の旦那様が成された功績を話されるという体をとっており、楽しめました。 また今回は月に一度の宇土櫓公開の日に当たり、内部を見ることが出来ました。 地震の前の姿、地震直後の無惨に崩れた様子を思うとここまで再建されたことに感無量です。とはいえ元の姿に戻るのは何年も先の話です。 いつの日か再建終わって、元の優美な姿を見るこ...
