Another historical museum, Matsushiro exhibition room — Attraction in Nagano

Just 200yen for adults. It’s a tiny but well done community museum, with helpful visuals and exhibits that explain more than the bare tunnels. They have examples of the drilling equipment, a two-person pole to experience carrying the average stone weight that the laborers excavated, and models of the housing. They have an English pamphlet (same text as the website). They straightforwardly discuss the Korean labor used to build the tunnels, and even if you don’t read Japanese you can use an app to translate the stories they collected from survivors. Located just next to the Matsushiro Underground HQ, this museum offers to add some contexts to the underground cave since the cave itself does a poor job of explaining anything. They display maps and background of the cave, but it was mostly the staff explaining which was helpful. Understanding Japanese is required to enter since they won't have any English displayed and I don't think the staff speaks English.

2022/04/30 歴史修正主義者の酷いレビューが目に余りますね。自分が右に寄り過ぎてるから、この程度のことを主張しただけで『極左』扱いなんですね。『極左』なんて簡単に言える言葉ではないですよ。

さて、地下壕に入るのは無料ですが、ただ入るだけでは『でかい！』『広い！』の感想で終わってしまうかと。こちらで背景を知っておくのが良いと思います。中を見なくても、200円で地下壕傍に駐車できるのだから最高です。 私は一人での利用でしたが、10分程度の解説付きでした。

展示物を観ていくと分かりますが、当時の多数の関係者の証言をもとに『何があったか？』をつぶさに追っていくようなスタイルの展示です。日本人を一方的に悪者にしているわけではありません。例えばある朝鮮人の職長は、部下の朝鮮人への扱いがかなり悪く、日本人よりも嫌われていたとのことです。そういう『生きた』証言が沢山掲示されています。 間違っても雑に『捏造』したような内容ではありません。これに反証するには、それなりの覚悟が必要だろうと思います。軽がろしく『捏造』と言うのは、資料や証言を纏めた人間に対して失礼極まります。
