Awful. Minions is the MOST overrated franchise of all time. And this ride is no different. If it wasn’t minions there would be no wait. Terminator 3-D was a fantastic show, and why they decided to make it kid friendly and turn it into minions is MIND-BOGGLING. Like, all the gibberish, sounds, Facebook meme references, and screaming and crying kids were tolerable for the first 20 minutes. Not to mention the songs that play in the area. OH. MY. GOD. The song that was playing while I waited made it a nightmare. As if the California heat and whiny kids weren’t enough. They played a song that is literally just Agnes saying “unicorns I love them” on a 5 to 6 minute loop with some annoying trap remix beat in the background. The only other songs they play are those repetitive songs from the movie. Also, the ride itself. Just think of Star Tours, but a disgrace to man-kind. That’s the ride in a nutshell. You’re put into this ride vehicle in a auditorium with 3-D glasses. And then the screen just displays a minions obstacle course/jungle gym while the girls from the movie try to kill themselves. That’s the whole ride. Long story short, replacing terminator with a ride based on a franchise about McDonald’s happy meal toys that get lost on the first day was a mistake on Universal’s part. When they replaced back to the future with the Simpsons, I was fine with it because I like both. Also, the ride was basically the same, just with Simpsons painted over it. This ride was straight up destroying the foundation of Terminator and rebranding it. I feel sorry for the terminator fans. Those fans that haven’t had internet since 2012 might be going to universal right now and have no idea how stupid Universal is. This ride sucks. It’s not worth the time or the wait. The only upside of why it’s there is to remind universal of how much of a waste of time it was. Go ride Jurassic World or Simpsons or Harry Potter or anything else that is...
Read moreOf all the major rides in the park this is the only one that annoyed me. After a very long queue which never let up all day. The experience was underwhelming. The actual ride is very short. Some reviews and websites describe a longer narrative experience. Depending on your perspective- much of that time is spent in the queue still. The ride proper only begins after all the narrative preamble and is a rapid jumbled mess of effects, “minion-rush” game like moment through 3d environments and too-rough jerky motions and inconsistent audio volume which make for a very short nasty experience where after a couple of minutes you exit bamboozled by what you experienced which seemed to have very little to do with the narrative preamble.
In terms of the English language experience it’s subtitled during the introduction but during the ride there are no subtitles. This is to be expected but worth being aware of and no doubt impacted the experience. Even so. Go to the hogwarts experience...
Read moreThe Despicable Me area at Universal Studios Japan in Osaka is fantastic. The entire zone is filled with adorable Minion decorations that make you feel like you’re in the movie. I loved how colorful and lively everything looked. The Minion Mayhem ride was so much fun and really immersive. It’s perfect for both kids and adults who love the films. I even got the chance to take a photo with Gru, which was such a cool experience. The staff were friendly and really stayed in character. There are also lots of themed snacks and souvenirs to buy. I think it’s one of the best themed areas in the park. I highly recommend visiting if you’re a...
