If you’re exploring the Tempozan area near Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan, be sure to check out the Osaka Culturarium at Tempozan. This underrated cultural spot often hosts rotating exhibitions ranging from Japanese art and history to international displays and pop culture, which makes each visit a unique experience. The building itself is modern and spacious, and it’s not too crowded — a great break from the busy aquarium next door. I visited during a special exhibit on ukiyo-e (traditional woodblock prints), and the presentation was beautiful and informative. Explanations are mostly in Japanese, but some exhibitions include English translations or pamphlets. The staff are friendly, and the overall atmosphere is calm and welcoming. It’s also just a short walk from the Tempozan Ferris Wheel and marketplace, so it’s easy to fit into your itinerary. Whether you’re an art lover or just want something a little quieter and cultural in the middle of your Osaka sightseeing, this place is worth a stop. Highly recommended for travelers who want to go beyond the usual tourist spots and enjoy something enriching...
Read moreSuch a hidden gem!! My friends and I had so much fun here completely unexpectedly. We aimed on visiting the aquarium but it was closed for maintenance. Upon walking in a super friendly worker ushered us in and was so eager to tell us all about what they had to offer. He took our pictures, showed us the zen gardens, gave us priceless information and had so many amazing recommendations about staying in Osaka. I can’t remember his name but I will remember him forever! He even printed us out a list of his favorite places to visit near our hotel. All of this for free!! It was an unforgettable experience!! After an amazing visit there we also made our way to the cat cafe in the back. It was adorable and my friends who had never been to one were over joyed. Some of the cats did bite or get aggressive so they had collars on to help you know which ones were more friendly. Some of them came straight on over to sit on our laps and others just wanted to play! I would definitely recommend the visit if you have extra time...
Read moreAccording to its own website(using google translate the website), the museum doesn't open all year round. The museum appears to be an event/temporary museum which, this year 2019, will be Doraemon theme from July 12 - Sept 23. From what I read the trend for the past few years were Manga related (great for Manga lover, and it gets very popular that you will have to purchase ticket in advance on their website). Any one please correct me if I am wrong ^.^
Pity I will be visiting Osaka in June...
