Hayashi-rice & Jewelry crafts Hahaha — Restaurant in Osaka

Finally visited this shop after noticing it a couple years ago. This cute shop is in a historic building that once contained a shipping company. Many of the original fixtures are still in use, giving it a unique vintage feel.

The menu is limited but the main draw for most people seems to be the hayashi rice/hayashi omrice (rice filled omelette). The hayashi sauce is quite authentic with the kind of deep beef flavor that you don't get with premade roux from the super market. It tastes like the chef has spent hours simmering it.

There are also a few homemade cakes available, as well as a number of drink options. The apple cake I had was pleasant, not overly sweet.

There is wifi available if you request it.

The shop has a small shop area selling accessories such as jewelry, etc.

While such a delicate place does not seem at first glance like it would be suited for children, the owners have children's books and a small play area in the shop. Though there is no dedicated children's menu, there is at least one high chair available.

If you're in the area this cafe offers a unique retro experience! Do check the hours though as they are closed Tuesdays...

A cosy restaurant with very friendly and helpful staff. The old building and the wooden furniture gave the room a very comfortable homely feeling.

I was looking for a quiet place where I could get some coffee and food and read my book. I could not have found a better place than this.

土日のお昼時に伺いました。 まず、順番待ちのシステムがグダグダ。 名前を記載する場所が店の中にあるのかな？と思いドアを開けて店内を覗きましたが見当たらないため、並んで待つシステムなのかな？と思い並んで待っていました。(忙しそうだったので聞きませんでした)しばらくしてお若めの店員さんが出てきて私の次の組から名前を聞き始めました。 ん？と思い、名前聞かれてないですと伝えると、先に並ばれましたか？と言われ名前を伝えることができました。 しばらくして、次の次の組の方が呼ばれました。 予約している方なのかな？と思い何も言わなかったのですが、その方が「この方達が私たちより先に並んでました」と店員さんに伝えるとまた、「先に並ばれましたか？」と…。その通りと伝えお店に入ることができました。 店内で様子を伺うと、私たちより後に来た方は店の中のスタッフへ名前を伝えている方もいる様子でした。(私達の次の次の方達は伝えていた様子、予約の確認か何かをしているのかな？と思っていました。)ここで伝えられていない人もいたり、名前を聞いてもらえなかったりすることで順番がぐちゃぐちゃになっていました。 このスタッフさんが悪いわけではなく、システムが悪いです。 整理券を発行する機械を導入する、名前板・予約の有無などを客に書いてもらう、方法はいくらでもあると思います。何度も言いますが対応したスタッフに非はありません。待たされることに関しては仕方ないと理解していますが、きちんと順番通りに客を通せないのはお店のシステムが悪いです。 入店時点でかなりモヤモヤしながら入店しました。 飲み物とハヤシライスのセットを注文。 飲み物を先にいただき、小さいクッキーがついていたのですが手拭きを貰えずないのかな？と思いながら食べました。 その後注文したハヤシライスが来た頃に手拭きが来ました。味は普通。 また、注文時にハヤシライス、飲み物、ケーキのセットにしたかったのですが食べ切れるか不安だったのでケーキだけ持ち帰りできますか？(ケーキは持ち帰りもできますと記載されていた)と最初のお若い店員とは別のベテラン？の店員に聞いたところ、半笑いでバカにしたように「ハハッ…（笑）別料金になりますがいいですか？（笑）」と。別料金になるのは全く問題ないのですが、言い方が本当に不愉快でした。
