Surprisingly the worst value and least appetizing restaurant we've visited after being in Japan several times. It's true what they say about reviews being high- it's from foreigners, because locals are unlikely to post 5 stars. I'm surprised though because the famous chicken was a very small portion and the most expensive item. I found it to be the least interesting dish and worst tasting chicken (even the ramen restaurant's karage was much juicier.) The bone marrow was excellent. The potato salad and eggplant weren't good. The service was decent.
What makes me most upset is that they charge you to be there and give you a cup of broth as an "appetizer" to account for it. I'm not sure if this is like Italy where you can refuse the bread and not pay.. but we felt forced to pay 480 yen each. And they also say you must order one drink each. This is expected from bars but not a restaurant- this is the first place we've gone to with this service. Definitely not worth the cost pp.
On top of that, everything was more expensive than other restaurants. This was the most expensive restaurant we've been to. Plus, they were quick to tell us the restaurant is closed (10:02pm) and take the bill when a Japanese couple nearby was able to stay and not be disturbed.
They also push for reviews, so the rating is definitely inflated. Do not believe this place is actually 4-5 stars. I would definitely recommend going somewhere else and finding a better value, and something more authentic. I will not recommend...
Read moreWe were seated with short wait, but difficult to find the place. Atmosphere inside is good with large tables and friendly service. You get served onion soup on arrival, however it’s not free, you will be charged for it in the end. As an addition, you are required to order a drink per person as a fee for a seat. One would think onion soup could have been enough? But no. First red flag. Ordering is quite easy over the phone via the code, there is English available. Place specialises on their charcoal chicken and chicken overall as it comes from a certain chicken farm. I would like to warn you all though, pay close attention to description of the meals as we accidentally ordered chicken tataki which is literally raw chicken! Apparently this chicken they serve can be eaten raw, but it’s way to extreme for us, so we used the iron charcoal chicken was served on to cook that tataki as well (thanks to people on the nearby table suggestion). I am not sure how safe it is, but I doubt chicken ever should be eaten raw. As for the charcoal chicken it was also a little pink to my liking , flavour wise , it’s okay I guess. Nothing super interesting, unless we only consider Japanese charcoal chickens. Snacks were good. I don’t think we will return but it was an experience for us,...

Stopped in here late Saturday night. A small wait despite open tables, but was seated fairly promptly.
Food taste wasn't bad, but wasn't very memorable either. One dish - pork stew - was probably the most unique and tasty. However, prices are high and portions are small. Their famous chicken dish was 1700 yen and probably only 100g - 150g (3-5 oz). They do charge a 480 yen "Otoshi" - a seating fee - that they provided for a tiny sip of chicken stew. I learned recently that this is a fee some izakayas charge for, but it was the first time this trip I've paid for it. On top of this, they also require patrons to purchase one drink per person, which is also something I haven't seen before anywhere else.
Overall, given the sheer amount of good izakayas you can find everywhere, I would recommend against...
