My son and I stayed at Chabad Tokyo in May for several days. It was a quiet base in a lovely neighborhood, with shared facilities, including a full kitchen. Not far from subway line. The house was clean and comfortable and made our last few days in Tokyo feel heimish and warm. We stayed in a satellite house a block from the main house, where the Edery family make everyone feel instantly welcome and at home, at all hours of the day and night. They bake fresh kosher rolls, which we bought every night for my son’s breakfast and sandwich making for lunch. They greeted us with fresh fruit smoothies (shakes) and tea and lovely conversation and insisted on giving me a takeaway dish of gf rice and mushrooms to take on the long journey back to Israel in case I couldn’t get gf kosher food! They care for everyone, including locals with no connection to Chabad as if they are part of the family and are cultivating a gorgeous garden, which they happily show off and share. They have built an extraordinary onsen-Mikva, which might be the most beautiful and exotic Mikva I’ve ever seen- and I’m from NYC and Israel! They have a very positive relationship with the local JCC Rabbi and community. Make these special people part of your trip to Tokyo. You...
Read moreWe attended the Chabad Pesach sedar in Tokyo on Friday 19th April 2019. I was initially a tad anxious as to what to expect from a sedar in Japan. To my delight It turned out to be one of the best sedars that I have ever attended. Rabbi Binyomen Edery, his Tokyo Chabad team and his wife and children were all such warm, caring, fun loving , gentle people. We must have been approximately 200 people present from all corners of the world and we were all welcomed and made to feel special and part of an international family of Jews. The sedar was easy to follow, and I loved the Rabbi’s sense of humour and ability to make everyone feel special. In addition the food was tasty and there was certainly enough to feed everyone. We arrived as strangers but certainly left as friends . I loved our trip to Japan and look forward to returning in the not to distant future and will definitely make a point of joining the Rabbi and his family and team for any...
