どこを見てもお地蔵さまだらけ！目黒の大円寺の石仏群も凄かったですが、浄名院さまの「八万四千体地蔵尊」はもっと凄い。初め、「八万四千＝たくさん」という程度に考えていたのですが、本当にその位お地蔵さまがいらっしゃるのではないかと思わせるほどの数です。お地蔵さまの中には犬養毅地蔵尊もいらっしゃったり(他にも北白川宮地蔵尊などもいらっしゃるそうですが未見)、ペット供養のお地蔵さまも鎮座しています。 また江戸六地蔵巡りもでき、両脇に地蔵尊が並んだ中(いわばお地蔵さまで出来た道)を通り抜けていくという、滅多にできない経験をしました。 また本堂では護符や御朱印を頂くこともできます。へちま守りなど特徴的な護符が色々ありますが、中でも特に錫杖の形をかたどったお守りが大変かっこよかったので購入させて頂きました。鈴の音がとても綺麗です。 一度だけでは周りきれないというか、全て納得いくまで眺めきれないという感じなので、是非ともまた参...

とにかくおびただしい数のお地蔵様を見ることができます。 浄名院の前身である浄円院は、寛文六年(1666) 寛永寺三十六坊の一つとして創建され、享保八年(1783) に浄名院となりました。地蔵信仰の寺となったのは第三十八世地蔵比丘妙運和尚の代からです。 妙運和尚は大坂に生まれ、25歳で日光の常観庵にこもったときに地蔵信仰を得、一千体の石造地蔵菩薩像建立の発願をたてました。明治12 年、最初の一千体の願が叶うと、さらに八万四千体建立の大誓願に進みます。明治18年には地蔵山総本尊を建立。各地から多数の信者が加わり、地蔵菩薩像の数は増え続けます。境内にある青銅製の大きな地蔵菩薩坐像は、かつて江戸六地蔵第六番の地蔵菩薩像があった深川永代寺が明治維新のとき廃寺になったのと、日露戦争の戦没者を弔うため、...
