2 things that came to my mind: I like how minimal this gallery is. And what a name for a museum!
You know there are many museums that are worried about you and hand holds you in every possible way with detailed information accompanying the artwork. This gallery is the exact opposite. The artwork are installed, there are NO description. And you let your imagination run wild. You decide how you want to run the show. What narrative you want to give, and how do you want to interpret the installation as you guess what the artiste was thinking.
When I visited, the exhibition covered work by Nobuko Tsuchiya titled, "30 Ways To Go To The Moon".
And Scai the bathhouse right?! It was originally a public bath house which was later taken over by the contemporary art gallery.
This is a good mid point stopover, between the Ueno museums and University of Tokyo though it will leave you more hungry than satisfied if you are a thoroughbred...
   Read moreHard to rate a gallery with no permanent collection, so maybe undeserved, but I was disappointed by the lack of variety in the exhibit they had on, and by the general smallness of the gallery itself. You could easily see all the works on show by standing in one spot and turning through 180 degrees.
