Snake Mound — Attraction in Tokyo

Calm and tranquil spot in the shadows of Tokyo Tower. There are Jizo statues here and a small statue of a snake. Locals leave offerings of eggs and sake for the snake to enjoy as apparently a local business (pub) owner from Shinjuku noticed a snake in the park and each time she saw the snake she would have good fortune at her establishment. This caused her to believe the snake was her guardian deity and set about creating the snake mound. It is believed leaving an offering will bring about good luck with money and work. A power spot tucked away at one end of the park. I came across it by accident. You can leave an offering. The area is clearly looked after, and people go here to pay respect. It is free to enter. 芝公園19号地もみじ谷内にある都内屈指のパワースポット。金運、仕事運に恵まれる強い霊力を持つとされ、私が何度か訪ねた際にもお供えされているものが変わっていたり、綺麗に掃除されていたりして、多くの人に愛されているのが分かります。

場所はもみじ谷公園の北西の端。 遊歩道が一本だけ袋小路に向かって伸びています。道に沿ってお地蔵様が何体か祀ってあるのですが、一番奥のお地蔵様の奥にちょっとした穴が掘り抜いてあり、その奥に蛇神様が鎮座しています。

蛇神様は酒と生卵が大好きとのことで、お供え物の定番になっているのですが、周辺にはカラスが多数いる上に、放置すると酒の匂いにつられてスズメバチがやってくるという看板の注意書きあり。 もしご利益目当てで来るにしても、他の参拝者が近寄れなくなるようなお詣りの仕方はやめましょう。 食品類はお供えをしてお祈りをしたら必ず持ち帰る。 もしくは下のベンチで自分で食べてしまうのがマナーになっています。

とはいえ「酒」は近くのコンビニでワンカップを入手できるにしても「生卵」は近所に住む人以外にはハードルが高いはず。近くには店が少なく、売っていても卵は6個とか10個でパックされているのが普通なので。 荷物の中に生卵を入れて公共交通機関に乗るリスクなども考えると、何か一工夫は必要だと思います。 ちなみに妥協して半熟玉子や温泉玉子でも良いのであれば、東京タワー内ローソン、もしくは増上寺の向こう側のコンビニなどで1個単...
