If you're a fan of unagi and looking for a top-notch dining experience, this Michelin-starred unagi restaurant should definitely be on your list. From the moment you step in, you're transported to a traditional and cozy atmosphere where you can indulge in some of the most delicious eel dishes you've ever tasted.
I had the pleasure of trying the 3 course meal which was simply outstanding. Starting with the eel jelly as an appetizer was a unique and delightful experience. It was an intriguing combination of flavors and textures that left me wanting more.
Next up was the grilled eel which was incredibly fragrant and tender. The soy sauce was perfectly balanced, not too salty and added a rich, umami flavor to the dish. And then there was the eel over rice. It was simply amazing! The sweetness of the eel when combined with the rice and sauce was a true delight that made me want to eat another bowl.
The restaurant itself had a traditional design that added to the overall ambiance of the dining experience. It was a unique experience to take my shoes off before entering the room, which made me feel more immersed in the culture and traditions of the place.
The servers were extremely friendly and accommodating. Even though I didn't have a reservation, they went out of their way to make me feel welcome and comfortable. And even though it was almost closing time, they still provided top-notch service and made me feel like I was their only guest.
Overall, I highly recommend this unagi restaurant. From the delicious food, to the traditional setting and friendly service, it's truly an exceptional dining experience that you won't want to...
Read moreI found this restaurant while showing a German friend around Tokyo, who was looking to try eel and get the full, traditional Japanese restaurant experience, with tatami floors and no shoes. This restaurant turned out to be EXACTLY what we were looking for- and more!
The restaurant itself looked so classical and stunning. While there were other convenient locations to choose from, I was glad that we chose this location in Akabanebashi, as it is the original with the longest history, and it really shows in the architecture. The servers were friendly and traditional, wearing kimonos. They even courteously saw us out after our meal.
The meal itself was a bit pricy, but there are different price ranges for different meal sets. I chose the cheaper one for around 5,000 yen and was not disappointed! I definitely recommend the 茶漬け (cha-zuke) -style set, where you can enjoy your eel rice bowl three ways: as it is, with special toppings, and with a broth that you can pour on top and eat like a soup. Triple the deliciousness.
I called them a couple of hours before we went to the restaurant on a Friday evening to see if we could reserve a table, and was told that we couldn’t, but that if we dropped by, that there should be space available. We did that, and got a seat right away!
I definitely recommend this restaurant- it’s an especially great experience for...
Read moreWe have long planned to have a meal at the God of Unagi restaurant. Finally our bucket list was fulfilled today.
We didn't make any reservations and arrived on Monday 11:15am. Immediately, we were led by the reception to its branch outlet (within 2 minutes' walk).
We ordered 1 set of Shirayaki set meal. The eel was grilled so well until so fine, juicy and delicious. Wow. Out of this world. Cannot described by words. You will understand when you chew it in your mouth. The complimentary soup was so clear and refreshing. The rice was so well cooked and boosted my appetite. Wow. 5 stars
My wife, who hated unagi so much, also took her courage to order a small bowl of unaju set. Surprisingly, she loved it. Now, only she realised that the unagi was so tasty. 5 stars
Photography and videography were prohibited. We just took the risk to reveal how good this restaurant was. We apologised to the restaurant for breaking the...
