This park seems just like a regular park when I passed by it, but it certainly has exceeded my expectations!
I visited on June 25, 2024, and to my surprise, the hydrangeas were still looking good! Many of the hydrangeas were planted in a shady area, so I guess that’s why the flowers don’t wilt too quicky when most of hydrangeas in other areas have wilted.
There are 3 main attractions to this park, they are 1) the aquatic botanical garden, 2) seasonal flower garden in the center, and 3) the hydrangea/ajisai garden itself.
Facility-wise, this park has adequate seating area, a gazebo right in the middle of the hydrangea garden, and it’s disable-friendly because it has a disable-friendly entrance and toilet.
It’s so calm in here and there weren’t many people visiting the park—most of them just passers-by who wants to go to/came from Tamagawa station.
Aquatic park is cool with many water lilies and cute water inhabitants like shrimps. The seasonal flower garden is neat and depending the time of your visit, displays beautiful greenery/colorful flowers.
The hydrangea garden itself is well-maintained and looking gorgeous. I guess I can call this a “hidden gem”, giving how empty the place was VS. the no-crowd.
During sunset, you can enjoy the view at the mini obeservation deck, overlooking the city and the riverbed.
It was a nice evening visit, and I will return next year a little earlier for the hydrangea.
Some cons: since it’s located right next to station, there will be noises from train every few minutes, especially on the hydrangea garden side. during summer, especially in the evening, do expect some mosquitoes. please take mosquito...
