I just needed a SIM card. I chose a contract, and the staff member told me that my phone, which is from 2019, was too old and the SIM card wouldn’t work. He tried to convince me three times to buy a new phone. I refused.
The SIM card works perfectly fine with my phone. This kind of forced phone upselling is pure marketing and promotion.
After that, the staff member said I was required to get a Yodobashi card. Even when I said I didn’t need it, they kept pushing it on me...
In the end, I showed them in GPT that I have every right to refuse this service!!!
I honestly didn’t expect to experience such aggressive sales tactics in Japan. I feel sorry for the people who get pressured into buying lots of unnecessary extra services for a lot of money, being scared, manipulated, and pressured.
