Jizo-Yu was my very first onsen experience in Kinosaki — and it turned out to be the perfect introduction. The building stands out with a large stone lantern and a small shrine dedicated to Jizō, the Bodhisattva who protects travelers and children. Many guests pause to bow before entering or after bathing, which gives the place a sacred, almost temple-like atmosphere.
The onsen itself is simple and quiet, with a large indoor bath at the center. The water is seriously hot — I could only soak for a few minutes at a time before stepping out to cool down! It may not have an outdoor view, but it offers a truly local, traditional atmosphere that feels authentic and peaceful.
Payment is cash only, so make sure to bring coins. If you're staying at a ryokan, you can use the Onsen Pass with QR code for free access.
