Unforgettable stay at Hotel Akaishiya!
From the moment we arrived, the staff welcomed us with genuine warmth and hospitality. Hiro and the team went above and beyond to make us feel at home, helping with yukata, offering local tips, and even giving a detailed room introduction in perfect English.
The location is perfectâright by the picturesque willowâlined canal and just a short walk from the station and the public onsens. Walking around Kinosaki in a yukata from the hotel felt magical.
Our room was beautifully designed, a serene mix of traditional tatami and modern comforts, with stunning river views. It was spotless and so thoughtfully laid out. The beds were incredibly comfortableâlike sleeping on a cloud!
The onsen and private sauna were another highlight. The cypress wood and tranquil atmosphere made it feel so relaxing and special. You can also book a private bath with a sauna, cold plunge, and outdoor seatingâit was heavenly after a day of exploring.
Breakfast was amazing! A beautifully presented, authentic Japanese meal with fresh, highâquality local ingredientsâprobably one of the best breakfasts Iâve had in Japan.
What really makes Akaishiya special is the attention to detail and the warm, personalized service. It strikes the perfect balance between traditional charm and modern luxury. I honestly didnât want to leave and canât wait to come back.
If youâre visiting Kinosaki Onsen, donât hesitateâstay here. Itâs an experience...

They also supply you with a Yukata robe and sandals to wear out to the various springs. ||The rooms are Japanese style with beds on the tatami mats that they make up for you in the evening. Rooms have TV and Hot water for tea and a small seperate seating area by the windows. English is not widely spoken. ||The public area has a small garden with carp pool.||Shoes are taken off at the entrance and they supply you with sandals to wear in the public areas of the house then off again in your rooms before standing on the mats. For outside the Hotel they will either supply you with outside sandals or your shoes of course. The staff were very attentive and friendly. But if not with a Japanese speaker this may be difficult as no english appeared...
Read moreI highly recommend Akaishiya to visitors.
The location: a 5 minute walk from the train.
The rooms: gorgeous tatami room with bed (low to ground, exceedingly comfortable). The welcome: Hiro-San greeted us with great English explanations. The room has an excellent view over the river, with koi, with willows blowing in the breeze. Room comes with toilet and sink; bathing through the onsen.
The inn has two private baths that may be reserved for private use in the evenings. You receive a yukata, tabi, towels and basket, plus a pass, to use at the 7 local public onsen, all with a few minutes walk from the inn.
I believe that it must be recently renovated - everything is spotless, clean and new, including the private onsen. The private onsen has a sauna, cold plunge pool, outdoor chairs, and private bath, with doors that open to outside.
The breakfast is huge and filling. It featured local delight (crab), miso, salad, rice, egg (cooked or raw, to your preference).
I will stay here when I come to...
