A fascinating museum inside the American University of Beirut; one of the oldest academic institutes in the region.
The museum is inside the university premises, and so one has to enter the university from the main gate, show a physical ID and keep it with the security folks, and then enter the premises to head to the museum. It is a quick process.
The museum spans over 2 floors showing different parts of the history of this land. Entrance is free.
Taking pictures inside the museum is prohibited.

Read moreWe tried to visit the archeological museum, which is inside AUB's campus. When we got to the entrance, the security man told us we were supposed to email the museum ahead of time to ask if we could come, and we had to enter through the main entrance, not the one we were at. He even had the museum staff on the phone but we were still not permitted without sending an email. On the museum's website, it says to send an email prior to your visit IF you want a guided tour, not if you want to visit in general.
