The cleanest spot in Beirut, wish other places were too. A wide pavement to walk or jog on. Ample number of benches decorated with Palm trees. The view of the Mediterranean sea is not to be missed whilst the breeze from the sea is so refreshing especially in the summer heat. The crowd is friendly, however, there are spots like the New Lighthouse, which should be avoided. There are even local boat riders who display their skills at times by riding over the waves or a few locals show off their diving skills, which in all earnest, deserves recognition. The streetlights however are not lit, but given the 4hr electricity availability in Lebanon, it's understandable, nevertheless, the roads light up thanks to the well lit buildings...
Read moreClean, loads of seating and the wide pavement with great views out to sea make this a great place for a stroll in the sun. At the weekend there were hoards of people fishing in the water below which was great to watch and the whole length gave a nice sense of what a welcoming city it is. It’s such a shame that the water was so polluted with rubbish, especially when everywhere else is so well kept. It certainly doesn’t distract the locals though, who clearly love sunbathing on the rocks out in the water. Later in the evening you're to see more people with hubbly bubbly, car door open with loud music, people eating nuts and spreading the shells on the ground, (on one side of the boardwalk) some guys like to boast and let their aggressive dogs fight other dogs.
