Orient Queen — Hotel in Dar Mreisse

Pros: location and clean bed sheets ||Cons: walking into the hotel after a long night flight, I was asked to settle the bill in cash and in $. When I refused the manager came out and said the financial situation doesn’t permit us to accept cards, please withdraw cash and pay us. I refused bedside my card is international and I can pay with $ on the card. When I threatened to leave they called the hotel manager that eventually accepted to take $ through card, after making me wait for 30 minutes.||Second shock was when I entered the room. They don’t even provide a tissue box. Or coffee or any other basics. There are no plugs in the walls near the bed. Only one plug near the balcony. The tv is 15 years old. The internet is slower than any internet provider in Lebanon. The pillows are made of wood blocks rather than cotton. I could hear my Neighbour on the phone and going to the washroom as if he was my flat mate sitting in my lap, no privacy or isolation. Room is so ours dated and all the furniture is old, bed and doors are squeaky, bathroom tiles haven’t been fixed in over a decade, the shampoo they provide is of the worst quality I every seen. Balcony door squeaks and balcony hasn’t been washed No hair dryer “surprise, surprise”.||When coming to the hotel at night, the night staff was interrogating me where I’m going as if I’m an intruder rather than a resident paying his salary for the next 6 months. Rude and disrespectful manner.||All in all, this is the worst Beirut experience I have ever encountered. I was disappointed with the hotel since i thought that i was going to enjoy my stay in beirut however this didnot happen , 1-The hotel room is average (executive suite) with no kittel for hot water or welcome water or coffee or tea, its like a small studio. 2- I had a burnt lamp and asked to be changed but noone changed it. 3- Room has a good balcony and bathroom and kittchinet with small electric cook , if you are student and searching for long stay u can use it, however if you r comming for short stay i donot recommend. 4- The most worst thing about the stay was the breakfast (as shown in the picture) its only 3 types of cheese with boiled eggs and bread :(

Everything about the hotel is below average; no exaggeration, the rooms and bathrooms were disgusting to a point that the idea of showering in those bathrooms would disgust you. The shower was overflowing, no tissue in the rooms (even after asking multiple times), hair in the bathroom corners, dirty balconies and floors, the bed sheets were not being changed, light bulbs were out, the sound of AC was terrible, like a helicopter in the room. We had to leave the hotel on the third day even after we had paid for a 5-night stay (no refund policy); we stayed that long (75% of this time not being spent at the hotel) because the staff promised that everything would get better and offered other rooms; rooms changed but the quality and service remained the same.
