Went on Friday on 12 Jan- the intention was to visit the resident of Tunku Abdul Razak because there’s not much time left before they close temporarily at 12 (early close at 12 and late opening at 3pm every Friday).
Upon arrival, the security had just unlocked the resident’s building mainly because there was only us visiting. But we were lucky to have a thorough guided tour from one of the staffs and we really took our time roaming the places for just ourselves.
What disappoint me was that the air conditioner was not working. This is the SECOND memorial I visited with faulty air conditioners- the first was memorial house of Tun Abdul Razak and that was in September!
I can’t help but notice a similar trend across most government buildings (memorials and museums) in the East Malaysia. Poorly maintained and lack of interactive information compared to museums and attractions in Sarawak.
Please, these are the treasures and attractions that we have in Malaysia and we should be proud of it. A quality renovation and maintenance should be practiced. I love interactive museums and I wish we could...
Read moreThis memorial is in the sad neglected state compared to the Tun Hussein Onn Memorial next door. There was no other visitor aside me , neither was any staffs at the information counter. The deco on 1st and 3rd floor are the original designed and look outdated. All of the electronic kiosks are either out of order or not turned on. As other reviewers pointed out, most display lights weren't turned on causing the rooms looking dim and eerie. Some sections of the carpet are soiled and spotly stained. Musty smell filled the room as one enters. The positive thing about this place is the comprehensive information as well as wide variety of artefacts collection displayed. Whichever department that looks after this place, kindly...
Read moreA lot to read and digest in the 3 floor memorial gallery 😅 But it was a very2 nice visit and we had so much fun there especially when rounding the house. The staffs are very very friendly, informative and ready to help. We almost missed one important hall as we missed the staircase to get there. When we were leaving, one of the staffs asked if we visited the hall and upon knowing we did not, he brought us through a shortcut to get there.
Entry is free and there is plenty of parking. In the same area there is Memorial Negarawan and the Tun Hussein Onn memorial as well, but we didnt manage to visit as we are rushing to another place. Oh ya, dont forget to visit Bank Negara Malaysia Museum and Art Gallery just opposite of...
