Urban Skate Plaza by Vans (MRT Ampang Park) — Attraction in Kuala Lumpur

Time to skate! No one, especially the younger ones, would really know that the Urban Skate Plaza was formerly a super famous mall, known as Ampang Park. It has been demolished to give way to urban development.

1. Well kept and maintained venue

2. The plaza is owned by MRT or Prasarana, with VANS building the skating infrastructures

3. A great place for all generations to come to relax. Not a particular group would own or take over this spot, as it is a public space.

4. Do consider, safety for everyone when skating, rollerblading or cycling. Cause some are here just for walk, stroll

👎🏼 5) For certain parts with ramps built, maybe VANS and Prasarana could consider building a barricade to close off the area. For everyone safety. Yes, we know you have put up the disclaimers of the plaza....

Cool new skate plaza in central Kuala Lumpur! Everything is very smooth and well made, and the location is awesome.

My personal favourite things to skate here were the excellent slappy cubs of varying heights. They're super fun.

A couple of things that I was a little disappointed by, sadly. One is that all the ledges at the park are the same exact height. There are a huge number of ledges around the skatepark, why not add more flexibility for skating by including some lower and higher ones?

The other thing that surprised me was that none of the quarterpipes had any sort of coping, just a sharp concrete edge. I wonder what's up with that decision? Having some coping (whether it's metal or concrete pool coping) on the quarters would add another dimension to how the park...

As a parent who regularly brings my kids to Ampang Vans Skate Park, it’s a fantastic spot for us to hang out and stay active. The park is well-designed with ramps, rails, and bowls that are beginner-friendly, so my kids can safely practice their skating skills while having fun. They also get inspired watching more experienced skaters in action, which makes it even more enjoyable.

The park has a great atmosphere, especially during events or competitions, which adds to the excitement. It’s an ideal place for families, not just hardcore skaters, to spend time outdoors. We often spend hours there, and my kids always leave feeling energized and excited to return.

It’s definitely a fun and lively place for parents and kids alike to enjoy a day out...
