Read moreThis was my very first orchestral experience. Frankly speaking, I’m not really an orchestra fan, nor do I know much about it. But the moment I saw they were doing La La Land in Concert, I knew I had to get a ticket.
I arrived 30 minutes before the show and saw a long queue because people were lining up to print their tickets. However, for those who didn’t need a physical ticket, they could just take the elevator straight up. While waiting outside the hall, I noticed some merchandise being sold.
Once we were allowed in, the ushers guided us to our seats. The hall was beautiful — smaller than I had imagined, but just the right size for everyone to enjoy the music. Before the performance started, the national anthem Negaraku was played so beautifully.
The performance itself was remarkable. I never thought watching La La Land in concert could be that good. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I’m so glad I bought the ticket — even though some might consider it pricey for an orchestra, I can understand why. Every performer came together to deliver a masterpiece.
I guess I’m converted! Let’s hope they bring more movie soundtrack...

Admittedly this was the only concert I have attended in KL as we are on vacation from America. But as a symphony lover, I yearn to hear the beauty of music, not the pain of intentionally mistuned musical calisthenics. Please bring back Strauss II, Offenbach, Delibes, Chopin, Mozart, even Schostakovich! Adapting modern music to classical is fine, but when you have the true masterpieces available to you, why go to all these pains to twist and contrive? So sad. I will dream and hope that this awful trend comes to an...
