I made my decision based on the high star rating here on Maps as I filter by 4.5+, so I was a little confused why it felt like a weirdly high rating after arriving. However they are very clearly buying reviews, based on the review profiles from some recent people. Unless the reviewers are flying Concorde they can't possibly be visiting so many hotels around the world in such a short space of time, and giving them all generic five star ratings, so it's presumably some marketing agency using non-human accounts to boost the hotel's rating. Wonderful!
After booking on Agoda, they were all over me like a crazy ex. Lots of emails including my first ever upsell attempt via Agoda, they linked to their website with offers to pay for upgrades or early check-in. I really don't like that.
The rooms look far more dated than the photos suggest and although interior design is subjective, to me it all looks like it's from the 70s and I almost felt like I was in a sepia photo. The TVs are all playing glib adverts for the hotel chain which just adds to the ugh factor.
Other highlights: noisy air con, large but not smart TV so no casting from phone or Netflix/YouTube, and you have to turn a heater on for 20 mins before you shower! They also have no restaurant so breakfast is a lunchbox style thing hung on your door, which definitely is not exciting. Internet is fast but signal is patchy in the living room. The whole building, all 22 floors, is on a single network too which isn't exactly great for security. Every decent hotel these days has dedicated routers for each room.
Location is okay. It's basically beside a big highway so not exactly charming but it's near the MRT and not far from the centre and there are two large malls with plenty of restaurant options near by.
The rooftop gym has decent equipment and the pool on the roof is cool, with great views and there's a Starbucks machine where you can get a cappuccino and pay with a card.
For the size of the 1 bed suite I had the price was okay but the hotel was built maybe 10 years ago and it shows, so I guess that's why it's better value? However I really don't like ending up in a sub par hotels because they use...

I recently stayed at Somerset Kuala Lumpur from Feb 26 to Mar 3, 2025, and my experience was unfortunately very disappointing - particularly because of how I was treated over something as simple as breakfast.
Despite clearly receiving a confirmation message from the hotel stating that breakfast was included in my booking, I was denied it at the property. A young lady at the reception handled the situation extremely poorly. She dismissed my claim rudely, and when I went back and forth to my room to retrieve my phone and show the confirmation proof they themselves had sent me, she still refused to acknowledge it. If there was an error with Booking.com, I am not the one to suffer with this, they should've sent another email saying I am not entitled to a breakfast.
We’re talking about a Grab N Go breakfast worth just 10 MYR. Although they said it's 30 but surely it's not. Does she think that someone who can afford to stay at Somerset cannot afford a simple breakfast? It was never about the money – it was about basic hospitality and respect.
The situation could’ve been handled with grace and understanding. Instead, I was made to feel humiliated and disrespected over a negligible amount. This shows a serious lack of professionalism and customer care.
I expect more from a reputed hotel chain like Somerset. Training your staff in basic customer service and how to handle guests with empathy is the least that should be done.
Would not recommend this property, and I certainly won’t be returning. The location is bad, better to stay near Bukit Bintang. You'll need Grab every time you go...
Read moreThe place is beautiful, well equipped with a kitchen, washing machine, dinning table, hall with TV, whereas the room is spacious also with TV and a big closet which has a safe box, iron & board.
What makes it amazing you can soak yourself in a tub with a city view, such a breath taking moment.
Overall, it's definitely a place you can relaxs, enjoy and even consider for a longer stay - you have everything within your space.
The price is affordable and it has a partial view of KLCC at night from the room we booked and beautiful view at night with the lights from the outside.
We had an amazing experience here and it is the centre of the city where everything is near at reach, even the KLCC tower and food places. It's at the Centre of the City which you can always have options of relaxing or going to the nearest places in few minutes.
Some of the suggestion to improve - to add for buffet breakfast, as currently the venue provides ala carte, however we do understand the situation or precaution measure of Covid. It is good that swimming pools are based on slot allocation which allows privacy and extra precaution to health concern to visitors and public.
Secondly, as fot the carpark, it is RM 10 per day if you bring your vehinche. Hence, it may seem costly for those who has to use car up and down on interval basis and adds up to more than RM 10 or in some cases, for those that may consider staying a few days - it may be costly depending on the number of days stayed.
Overall, no complaints and satisfied with the venue and it's a place for a small pax of 2 as couple of even a family. Enjoy your stay when...
