We visited this Dome almost everyday when we were in KL. The service is a bit slow but the staff are friendly especially Floratina who always had a welcoming smile on her face. The coffee here is perfect especially the latté. Beware the large latté is huge ! We have enjoyed there Salmon sandwiche, spicy chicken pasta, pizza, garlic bread & delicious soups. The day staff are far more friendly than the night staff. We went for a second visit of the day an hour before closing, as we approached a member of staff deliberately blocked the main entrance with a table & chairs which were not there earlier and would make it impossible to pass. As i saw him do this whilst looking at us I made a point of moving the chairs to get in & asked him if they were closed which he said no not for another hour. Not very welcoming. 20 minutes before closing time the waitress who took our order had a stack of bills to give out to the only 4x tables left there. When she presented mine I said to her maybe she would like to serve us the food we ordered 40 minutes ago before trying to give us a bill for food we had yet to see let alone eat. The night experience was the worse service we had had here. If this was the only visit we had made here I would never return. I would go again during the day, have a latté & enjoy watching the world go by just avoid going in the evening they dont want to work in...
Read moreThe food was ok except there was one short hair in the soup (I ordered chicken gourmet pie) which I was too hungry to complain and just set the hair aside. What was NOT OK for me is this waitress who is super WEIRD. Assume she’s in charge of the entrance as she stations there. 2 incidents I had eye contact with her to call her but she ignored and walked around acting like she was busy. 1st time I called her to order, she looked over but started to walk in circles, so I asked another staff instead, only I knew they used QR code to order. 2nd time I asked her for the bill while waving my card in the air, but after having eye contact with me, she walked and stood behind the ice-cream bar. So I thought maybe she is not in charge of the bill nor ordering that’s why she ignored me twice. It would be more logical for her to come over to explain or get someone else to attend to me if that were the case. BUT when I was pissed off and stood to get over the counter for payment, SHE walked over and processed my payment. My goodness I almost felt like scolding her, then I thought maybe she is handicapped and could not speak. The thought ended when she asked whether I needed a receipt. I really don’t understand the logic behind this. I would almost think she’s not an employee of DOME if she weren’t wearing the DOME tag and apron. Could DOME explain her...
Read moreDôme used to be the place for comfy, quality food. Now it feels like I accidentally wandered into a very ambitious street stall — but still paid premium café prices for food that wouldn’t even survive a street food competition.
The Roasted Chicken with Mushroom Sauce came with a drumstick so tiny, I wondered if it had been on a diet. To make it worse, the poor thing looked like an anatomical anomaly — uneven, sad, almost begging for mercy. In fact, it probably needed the mushroom sauce just for emotional support.
Fries? Barely there — looked like they were rationed during wartime. Salad? More of a side thought than a side dish.
And the Char Kuey Teow… well, the menu showed a hearty, colorful dish full of greens. What I got? Just noodles and disappointment. Maybe the vegetables couldn’t survive the sadness either.
Honestly, the best thing about today’s meal was my 14y.o son stopping me from becoming a full-blown Karen. I was this close to asking the staff if they were running a social experiment on customer patience.
Thanks, Dôme — for the memories… and for reminding me that nostalgia can’t save everything.
ps: Next time, I’ll just eat...
