Perdana Hotel, Kuala Lumpur – Good Value but Expect Extra Charges
We recently stayed at Perdana Hotel in Kuala Lumpur and found it to be a solid option for the price, though guests should be aware that many additional services come with extra fees.
Pros: • Spacious Rooms – The accommodations were exceptionally large, featuring a separate bedroom, two bathrooms, a spacious wardrobe, and a well-equipped kitchen with a full-sized fridge, oven, and washing machine. Given the price, these amenities were a great deal. • Nice Views – The view from the room was quite pleasant, adding to the overall experience. • Diverse Breakfast – A good selection of food, including fresh fruits, vegetables, hot meals, and delicious pastries like croissants, baked fresh on-site. • Pools & Playground – The property includes two swimming pools—a large one and a smaller, shallow one for children. Both were clean and surprisingly uncrowded. There’s also a playground nearby with slides and swings. • Tropical Garden – A small but charming green space near the pool, adding to the ambiance. • Helpful Staff – When we needed a power adapter, the front desk provided one free of charge, which was convenient. • Early Check-in (With Negotiation) – Though early check-in normally incurs a full-night charge, we managed to negotiate a discounted rate, and they also allowed our child to have breakfast at no extra cost.
Cons: • Aging Facilities – Some areas of the hotel appear worn down, with peeling paint, rust, and spots in need of better maintenance. • Unexpected Charges for Small Requests – We requested an extra blanket (even though multiple pillows were available), and they charged an additional fee. While the amount was minor, this isn’t something most hotels charge for, making the policy feel unnecessarily strict. • Early Check-in Policy – Booking.com allowed us to request early check-in, but the hotel’s policy required paying for a full additional night. Upon arrival at 9 AM, we were informed that our room wouldn’t be ready until 1–2 PM unless we paid extra. Even after negotiating a discount, the fee for early check-in ended up higher than our standard nightly rate due to the price difference between Booking.com and direct hotel pricing. • Plumbing Issues – The toilet flush was weak upon arrival and completely stopped working by the end of our stay, suggesting poor maintenance. • Tennis Courts in Bad Condition – The hotel advertises tennis courts, but they are closed, and the surface is visibly old and worn out. • High-Speed Elevators – The hotel has 40 floors, and the elevators move extremely fast, which can be uncomfortable for those sensitive to pressure changes. If you struggle with rapid altitude shifts, a lower-floor room is advisable.
Final Thoughts:
Perdana Hotel offers great value for the size of the rooms and available amenities, but guests should anticipate additional charges for many extra services. While the location, pools, and breakfast selection are strong points, the aged facilities and some inconvenient policies slightly take away from the experience. If you’re okay with a few trade-offs, it’s still a solid option for a stay in...

Room : Nice rooms with kitchenette 1st night : studio queen room with divider/partition and not so baby friendly (the paint at the bottom of wall were peeling off-baby tried to pick the wall peels on the carpet) 2nd night : studio twin room, better and spacier as no divider in the middle
Room condition : Room was ready early at 2pm. Clean room but bathroom need extra effort between the tiles
Breakfast : Average breakfast, can be better though. Tea (next to coffee machine) not hot enough, just slightly warm. They should have the tarik to make the variety interesting. Few menu really stand out like the freshly baked croissant and roti canai and dhal so yummy.
Reception/frontdesk : Should be more friendlier and more attentive to guests (especially with baby) and guest's special note. I have mentioned that the staycation was for hubby's birthday and anniversary. Nothing done unlike other hotels we stayed (including budget hotels!) will at least give note, complimentary drink, cake or something. Then, during check-in I have paid deposit Rm100 upfront for standby room service orders by my kids (I told the reception that i have company dinner and I wont be around). Then when my kids wanted to order room service they were denied and told credit was 0 and unable to order anything. Luckily I called to check on them, and straight away called reception and it seems that it was not communicated to the F&B team. Another part I requested to extend stay but they couldn't accommodate and insist me to upgrade to 3room apartment which was too big for us, hence no choice to checkout. I am fine and understand the rooms capacity is full but I received a 'look' from the lady at that time as if I did wrong. Where is the hospitality? Then I went to Agoda and managed to get a studio twin room and just have to pay Rm40 difference. When I came back to reception to inform her about the Agoda booking, she said i should just stay in the same room as it is the same. Obviously it was not and I said i want this room (without partition) even though it's both suite then they proceed (still with a face) with this request.
Checkout : Unable to request complimentary late checkout even though it was suggested by their own staff at the cafe (they said tomorrow Monday can request late checkout at 3), despite already mentioned handling cranky sleep baby and the next day was Monday (not full).
Concierge/Bellboy : the best! shout out to all bellboys and concierge they did a fantastic job and truly the face of the hotel (unlike the reception team-sorry!)
Pool : Nice pool however weekends can be full and many not properly attired guest hotel staff should be strict on this policy.
Overall, stay is OK but I noticed this hotel is quite stingy with the little human touch part. Yes understand budget is everything but the small extra things that will make guests happy and come back. Luckily the concierge and bellboys are the best and due to them, we will repeat our stay in...
