Bintulu Waterfront — Attraction in Sarawak

waterfront area which is only about 50 meters behind the hotel where the state authorities had built a most beautiful promenade stretching for at least 2.5 km right up to the old town centre to the left and about 1.7 km to the right where the promenade ends. The promenade is as wide as a car lane and very well-maintained with clean paved tiles and a sea wall all the way to the town centre. It is a haven for joggers and walkers as well as sunset lovers. A 15 to 20-minute leisurely stroll along this awesome beachfront will bring you to the town centre of Bintulu. Coincidentally, this is the longest waterfront in Sarawak and I’m sure the most beautiful too.

The nearest shopping and entertainment area to the hotel is the reasonably new Parkcity Mall area which is about a 10 to 15-minute walk from the front of the hotel. Here there are restaurants, pubs and entertainment outlets which open till quite late to cater to the largely oil and gas community in Bintulu. Elsewhere and in the old town centre, apart from a few scattered restaurants, everything is dead after 9.oopm, much like Sibu. Bintulu Waterfront offers a stunning view during sunset, making it an ideal spot to unwind and relax. The serene atmosphere adds to its charm, making it a favorite for both locals and visitors.

However, the experience is dampened by the noticeable amount of rubbish in the sea water. It’s an issue that requires the authorities’ attention to preserve the natural beauty of the area.

It needs attention from city council. Dirty, garbage everywhere, especially on the shore and in the water, empty (no one there just some homeless guy), damaged equipment.
