The market is a bustling hub of activity, with a vast array of vendors selling their wares. The building itself is large, with high ceilings and wide aisles that accommodate the crowds of shoppers moving from one stall to the next. There are countless options available, from fresh produce and meats to household goods. As you enter the market, the first floor is dominated by a food center. The aroma of cooking fills the air as vendors offer a dizzying selection of local and international cuisine. There are long rows of food stalls serving up everything from traditional street food to gourmet dishes. Customers can choose from an impressive variety of foods, including soups, noodles, rice dishes, grilled meats, sandwiches, desserts, and more. The seating area is large and comfortable, with tables and chairs scattered throughout, making it easy to enjoy your meal amidst the bustling atmosphere. Beyond the food center, the market continues with vendors selling clothing, accessories, home goods, and more. It's a shopper's paradise, with something for everyone. The sheer size and variety of the market can be overwhelming, but the energy and excitement of the experience make it a must-visit destination.

We had an interesting and unique experience visiting this market, and we were truly surprised by how large it is. It’s considered one of the biggest covered markets in Malaysia. We discovered many fascinating things here and bought just a few items, but it was still an enjoyable experience for us. We found two new fruits we had never tried before – one tasted similar to rambutan or longan but looked more like rambutan (see photo below), and the other was somewhat like tamarind. We were also surprised by how chickens are sold here – in our country, they are usually kept in cages at the market, but here they are wrapped in newspaper. As a small souvenir, we bought a beautiful keychain for only 2 RM. Overall, it was a very memorable experience, and we would recommend visiting this market if you are ever in Sibu!

It's a must visit place in Sibu. Basically tells you the daily lives of Sibu. You can find variety of food stalls at 1st floor. Then can roam on ground floor for dry and wet products / grocers. Opposite the central market you can find the old and traditional shops as they are located on the oldest streets of Sibu. The market is clean & air circulated well and surprisingly they maintained very clean toilets. For those travels in own transport, I strongly suggest you purchase parking coupons earlier as most of the street parking requires parking coupons. Or else, you can always park at the Central Market parking floors which is quite convenient. Morning is normally quite busy so parking availability is limited. Its best to come here by walking if your hotel is walking distance.

All under one roof and super affordable. However, the hawkers at the market mostly are super rude and impolite. I was at the 1st floor ordering food and some take away. Clearly remembered ordering some takeaway from shop number 20 and was rudely told that they don't have anymore. Just before I managed to turn around, I heard a guy from the back of the shop ordered from him and he still replied ok. I confronted him about why having here they have but when we asked for takeaway they will say everything finished. He didn't want to answered my questions but instead asking me back do I still want or not. Finally he did pack the takeaway for me but for only two pack of drink. I ordered 3 actually. Seriously do not understand why the guy need to behave like this. We spend money not to see his rude behaviour but to enjoy the food. If he does not do takeaway then he should just put a notice so that people wont bother to ask anymore. Really a let down. Cant imagine if he did this to a tourist from another country. How will people...

GROUND FLOOR.. There are many choice fruit and vegetables, from non-local to local vegetables. If the time is right, you will found local season fruit such as Durian, Dabai, Mempelam. But this market knows as local Dabai center, some of dabai come from rural area such as Kapit and Song, so sometimes you will see Dabai Song or Dabai Kapit at the market. If time not yet fully dabai season, they will sell dabai up to RM100/kilo. Mostly people will avoid buying high price.

Aside from fruit and vegetables, there are fish, chicken and pork which is on separate area. Pork have own designated area. If you buying chicken or pork, you better ask how much per kilo they sell, because some of them will trick you.

1st Floor Here is the place that you can get a cheap food and drink which is a same level as restaurant cuisine. Nothing much I can give, but there are ABC Cendol quite know by local people, just ask for direct, people will help you if you are ABC...
