Lovely day out in the heart of Cancun hotel zone (km 16.5). Activity started with a quick introduction from our inland guide Hector in Spanish and English. He detailed the program and kindly asked us to participate each element of the program. First there's a short purification ceremony under the canopy of mangrove trees involving local "Mayan wizards". They even teach you some original Mayan words. Then a short dancing and running through the forest to warm you up for the main attraction. That's where the land attraction finished and the group walked to the marina to gear up for the speed boat ride!!! Even if you never drove a boat, not alone a speed boat, this is something you'll learn quick and enjoy a lot for sure. The staff is friendly and helpful during the preparation where you'll get the life jacket and your snorkeling gear. In both case there's a proper selection and snorkel pipes are sealed new. There's a short instruction talk about the boats and how to behave on the water, and short after you're already in the driving seat and speeding through the lagoon and mangrove. The ride is about 20min in one direction and the finish point is out on open sea docking point where you can leave the boat for a short snorkeling experience on the 2nd biggest coral reef on earth. Breathtaking experience. Again, if you never snorkel before is not a problem. Life jacket must be on full time, so you can comfortably float around and enjoy the hundreds of fish and beautiful corals with minimum effort. Once snorkeling finished you're back to your boat and speeding back to the marina for a lovely fresh water shower before you invited to an authentic Mexican cuisine (including soft drink). Very well organized, at no point boring or feel unsafe. Lovely experienced team through the whole activity with good English. Tips and professional photos are not included, but both highly...
Read moreI want SO badly to give this company a 5-star review, as it was the most interactive tour I have ever been on. I am marking down solely based upon the cost of my tour (zipline + mongrove). Facility: amazing, sparkling clean, brand new Staff: amazing, articulate, friendly Gift shop, coffee shop (they don't actually serve Starbucks, though, according to the barista), restaurant. Perks: "meal" included, lockers $5 American deposit, refundable, bandana, plus-/tiny-sized equipment. Kid-friendly (for this specific tour, unknown for the others).
I went the day before my tour to inquire, and was told the cost was $55 American, and was given the option to pay now or when I registered the following day. A shuttle for an additional $10 round-trip was also offered. When I opted to pay the following day, I was informed that the shuttle was "actually full" and that would have to find my own way down to the tour -$15 each way for taxi + tip. Ziplining was my only tour this trip, and this company has such great reviews I decided it was still worth it (especially considering other companies start at $89 American+ for similar tours and terrible reviews).
When I arrived the next day I was charged $69 American by the same staff who I had spoken with the day before. Numerous travel sites were booking for the discounted rate, but all require at least a two-person reservation (anywhere in the world I've ever tried to book, by the way; regardless of discounted rates). Despite explaining this, all three staff seemed to have no recollection of quoting any price other than the full charge.
Discontent aside over the lack of follow-through on the offer, this tour is well-worth $69 American IF you are walking distance, have a rental, or find a spot on their shuttle for the +$10. It wasn't "thrilling" enough to be worth anything more than that, though.

Read moreThe Jungle Tour at Puerto Maya Cancun was a mix of impressive moments and some disappointments. The Maya ceremony was fantastic—the costumes and performance were well done and definitely a highlight. The show overall was entertaining, and the snacks were okay.
We were told to arrive at 8:30 AM, so we left very early to be on time, even skipping coffee. But many others arrived late. That lack of coordination was frustrating.
The speedboat activity was excellent—clean, fast, and easy to drive, even for beginners. Some waves on the sea, but nothing to worry about. It’s definitely a must-do!
They offer photos and a video package for $75 USD. A bit expensive, but you get both digital pictures and a video, so it may be worth it for some.
Snorkeling, however, was very disappointing. I told the guide I needed help snorkeling. He simply said “jump.” I asked if I could sit and get in slowly—again, he said “jump.” No support, no explanation, no reassurance. When getting back into the boat, I was unsure how to do it. He just said “come here,” grabbed my life jacket, and pulled me up. No heads-up like “get ready” or “don’t worry, I’ll help you.” Small words like that make a big difference, especially for people who are nervous or inexperienced.
The only time he smiled was when asking for tips. I found that really disappointing. The rest of the staff were wonderful—welcoming, helpful, and positive.
With better training or attitude from the snorkeling guide, this could easily be a...
