I am going to give a detailed review because I obsessed and stressed about reviews prior to arriving here. 1. I read reviews about cockroaches, I never saw a single cockroach while at the Seadust. 2. I read reviews about the pools being unheated and cold. We stayed in January, and in my experience the pools were great. We loved the main pool with the 3 infinity pools. There was a shallow area that was perfect for our young children to play. It is so hot outside and the pool temperature was so refreshing. There was a heated shallow pool next to it that worked well if it was cloudy outside and you needed the extra warmth. One thing that was a down side was it was difficult to get a pool lounger. One morning I went down early and reserved two for our family of four. The rest of the week we did the beach first, and the pool in the afternoon and I found we could usually find at least one in the afternoon. But if you went down at 10 AM and looked for a pool chair you weren't going to find one. Also, the music near the pool in the afternoon is obnoxiously loud. 3. The beach was the highlight. Such nice sand, no seaweed. It was a red flag day everyday, my husband and I were able to swim everyday, we did not take our preschooler and toddler in, we thought it was too rough. But we loved the beach. It seemed easier to get a beach lounger than the pool loungers. 4. The rooms. We had a family suite with bunk beds. It wasn't fancy at all, but it was very functional for our family. Loved that the bunk beds were behind a wall. Big bathroom, no tub but I knew that before booking and we made it work. Amazing ocean view. Housekeeping was great until day 5, and they never showed up again after that, which was irritating, but didn't ruin our trip. 5. The food. I read the food was bad. I would say the buffet was the least good buffet I've had of any all inclusives I've been too. Especially breakfast wasn't great, food was often cold. We preferred room service in the AM, the food was fresh and hot that way. The a la cartes were first come first serve, we never waited to get into any of them (we ate earlier). There were four options. The a la carte food was fine, a few things we deemed delish and most was good enough. The best food we had was always the Mexican food. Baja tacos by the pool on Saturday were really so good, the el maguey restaurant was amazing and our server was so fun there! However the information on the el maguey restaurant was confusing, I thought it was closed for renovations only to learn it was actually open on our last day so we only got to enjoy it once, which was unfortunate because I would have went everyday if this had been more clear. There was a grab and go lunch place that had really good sandwiches and salads that you could take and leave with. The lunch by the pool was hit and miss. The first day it was hamburgers and hotdogs and it was really bad. Next day was Baja tacos and they were hot and so delish. Seemed to be a hit or miss depending on the timing you got there. Lots of chicken nuggets, fries and hot dogs for the kids. The drinks were awesome. There was always staff who brought us drinks at the pool and beach. 6. We liked that the resort wasn't too big. Didn't take long to get anywhere. We were on floor one which we liked because there were long elevator waits at times and we could take the stairs if we didn't want to wait. But if you were higher up I could see this being annoying at times. 7. We only saw two shows because we have young kids, but we enjoyed the two we saw. 8. Kind staff. The time share people called the first day and woke us up, I disconnected the phone for the rest of the week so that didn't happen again. Never heard from them again. All in all, I would not recommend this resort if you do not have children. For our family, this was an enjoyable holiday, even with the food being mostly just fine. This was not trip ruining and no one got sick. In a value for money sense, I think it was too expensive for the quality, and I would only return if I got a much better deal in the future.

It was my family’s first time in Cancun and we had a less than satisfactory stay at Seadust. This is not a 4 star resort by any means. 3 stars is already quite generous but perhaps families with children looking for a budget friendly option would have a better time than we did. Overall, a very old and run down resort with limited entertainment, average food, and lack of cleanliness. Best part was that majority of staff were nice and there is easy access to a stunning beach just behind the resort. Also a warning to watch out for the “concierges” dressed in white who will talk to you after check in for a “tour” and invite you to a “VIP breakfast”. They are dishonest and it is essentially a timeshare trap. Rooms/cleanliness: The worst part of our stay was the quality of the rooms. The rooms were incredibly run down with mold in the jacuzzi and showers. Linens were old, the coffee machine leaked, the blinds were broken, and the toilet had awful plumbing that would clog at least 1-2x a day. Our room and the hallways would smell like sewage at times and the shared area restrooms were either dirty or had something broken. We did not use the pool but the hot tubs were also dirty and lukewarm. I think the photos can speak for themselves. We also had an awful experience with the housekeeping team that soured our vacation. We discovered someone has broken my sister’s LED mirror after housekeeping had come to make up the room. It had obviously been touched but no note or anything was left behind. When we contacted guest services, they said they would “look into it” and had us waiting around for hours with no answer. They still said they were “in the process” of investigating this issue until we went to the front desk ourselves. The housekeeping manager firmly denied her employee did anything, gave us attitude, and walked away saying she’ll “try seeing what she can do”. She finally contacted us at the end of the day and offered either a spa coupon or late check out as compensation but no sincere apology was ever given. We were very disappointed in how this situation was handled. However, I do want to thank Javier(?), one of the guest services staff, who actually listened to our concerns and showed sincerity in addressing our complaints despite the issue being largely over his head and under the responsibility of the housekeeping team. Food/Drink: Very average, restaurants do not take reservations and there is typically a 1-2h wait for dinner. The only one that is somewhat worthwhile is the Mexican restaurant (El Maguey), which is only open from 12-5. The rest of the restaurants are only open for dinner which leaves limited options for breakfast and lunch. Surprisingly, the best food we had throughout our entire trip was at the buffet. Menu changed enough daily to not be boring and there were also decent vegetarian options. Some dishes were overly salty and desserts were mostly a miss, but we found ourselves returning to the buffet often as it was much better than any of the restaurants. No complaints about the drinks and bartenders as long as you stick with simple or popular drinks. Fernando(?) at the Midway bar was fantastic. They were generous with the alcohol and I found none of the drinks were diluted. Entertainment: Mostly catered towards children as it is a family resort - water park, zipline, and mini golf were only for kids under 12. I found there was not much to do for adults - some fitness activities during the daytime and usually a night show and electric violin performance in the evening. The fire show was incredible! Circus show was also not bad but theme was mainly catered towards children. Gym had a good variety of machines but most were rusted and run down. Also lacked any kind of cleaning spray or sanitizing wipes. We did not use the spa but it did look nice from the outside, prices were expensive as expected. We will not be returning to Seadust again. You can tell they are trying but the resort is lacking in many ways. I would highly recommend spending a little more money for a more reputable resort.

Seadust Cancun - Come for the views, endure the rest. Usually you write the TL/DR at the end, but I think the only word that describes this hotel best is neglected, once something breaks, it will stay that way. The Seadust claims to be a family friendly 5 Star resort but somehow the 5 stars should be understood more like 2 stars. When you enter the lobby, you feel a certain Damp and mildew-filled air. Only 2-3 of the 6 guest elevators work. Puddles on the floors remain for days. Rooms can be best described as Dated with dust piled up higher than you find in any dorm room. But as soon as you walk out on the Balcony you get rewarded with stunning views of the ocean and the Bay on the other side, then you look down and see the vacant lot next door that is littered with garbage. We checked in late on the first night, so we needed some food for the room while we got our kid ready for bed without meddling too much with his sleep routine and have him sit in a restaurant way past his bedtime. I was told that this wouldn’t be possible and that we need to order room service for a small charge of $10 USD. So yeah, go for an All-Inclusive vacation and get dinged with the first upcharge right away. The food was ok, a bit cold, but I thought it might have been from the fact that it needed to be brought up to our room. Little did we know at that point that this might have been the hottest food we would see throughout the stay. Housekeeping comes through daily to “clean” the room but somehow miss to clean the floors or the bathrooms completely, so let’s be courteous and say, you get your bed made every day. The Bathroom is ok, sinks were cracked and some tiles also cracked or missing. Electrical wiring coming out of the ceiling as well. The shower reminds you more of a mid-80s highway motel in Florida with exposed plumbing and even the towel holder falling out of the wall in the middle of the night. Constant phone calls starting at 8 am aggressively try to sell timeshares, continues at every corner in the hotel. They try to upsell at every opportunity, even when you are just trying to get pool towels. Limited loungers about 100 places for a 500+ room hotel creating a competitive atmosphere with blocked chairs before 7am. Small beach with sudden depth increases, unsafe for kids. No fault to the Hotel here, just the way the shoreline is. The reason why we initially decided on this Hotel was the Kids play area, which, after seeing it in person, I wouldn’t recommend for any child under 4, and even then, you might want to make sure your kid had their tetanus shots before. Water is freezing cold so that shivering kids are no rare sight and the whole structure is full of rust and leaks with broken off pieces on the side leaving exposed sharp edges to step on. The Play area is in a sub-level of the area which gives up more dungeon like vibes. All carpeted with turf, exposed electrical wires coming out of walls, a swing-set without swings. The daycare (babysitting) area they offer was unstaffed at the times we were there but looking into the room it was just a tv on the wall with another few wires hanging off. So another dud. Buffet offers lukewarm, microwaved dishes. Meat is often undercooked. Specialty restaurants have similar issues, with upcharges for "premium" items. The Kids menu usually consists of microwaved pasta with meatballs, microwaved frozen pizza hotdogs that let every 7eleven look like fine dining. After some odd cockroach encounters in the bathroom and finding some bites on us and the kid (bedbugs) plus the odd food poisoning, we decided to cut our losses and end this stay early. When we arranged to leave a couple of days early (not demanding any money back) they would only let us check out after signing a waiver that it was not their fault that we left early. I stayed at many hotels, had to check out early on some occasions due to work but never have been presented with such waiver. So apparently, they know full well what they have there and willingly neglect the health and safety of their paying customers.

I am going to give a detailed review because I obsessed and stressed about reviews prior to arriving here. I read reviews about cockroaches, I never saw a single cockroach while at the Seadust. We liked that the resort wasn't too big. Didn't take long to get anywhere. We were on floor one which we liked because there were long elevator waits at times and we could take the stairs if we didn't want to wait. But if you were higher up I could see this being annoying at times. We only saw two shows because we have young kids, but we enjoyed the two we saw.

In a value for money sense, I think it was too expensive for the quality, and I would only return if I got a much better deal...

I would highly recommend spending a little more money for a more...
