The museum is amazing, the pieces on display and the texts were well written. Even more enjoyable than our visit to Frida's house. The guard on the staff in the museum was kind and helpful, and walked all through the museum with me to show where the bathroom was.

But it must be noted that the two men in the book shop are not prepared to deal with the public. I took a photo of the back cover of a book and didn't know it wasn't allowed, as there were no signs or prior communication stating this rule. The two men were very angry and aggressive, and it ruined my visit to the museum. If photos are not allowed in the shop, please add a sign stating that, or have better educated staff in the shop that can communicate in a non aggressive...

I loved this little museum! This is an easy stop if youre in the area to go to casa azul. The entry is super cheap and so worth the hour or so of your time! The special exhibit was so fascinating, i loved learning more about the punk political scene in cdmx. It was so wonderful to have a museum celebrate the importance of a space like alicia was. The descriptions are only in spanish, as a heads up! Its a little confusing to navigate around the exhibits, dont miss the exhibit after the temporary one! They also had a cute market while i visited, such a nice surprise! Also recommend the bookstore if youre looking for any interesting books or other media in spanish- the topics are...

I went after a festival day so half of it was being taken down for the next exhibit but overall it's what I was hoping it'd be. The bookstore was fabulous but I was heading to the Kahlo museum so I wasn't sure if I could take anything large there so I just browsed. They have amazing archeology magazines and awe inspiring calendars. If you're looking for printed material make the trip here. The two exhibits I did see were very good and great context was provided. The exterior that was closed had beautiful, colorful murals. I might have to delve into archives to see what other exhibits have been there. Also some gorgeous trees and a kind of quiet spot for sitting in the shade...

Get to know a little about popular culture in Mexico at the Museo Nacional de Culturas Populares (National Museum of Popular Culture). It's an historic building showing temporary exhibitions about popular culture. Currently there's an exhibition about the alternative arts venue Multiforo Cultural Alicia, an exhibition of work by Felipe Ehrenberg and his inspiration from Mexican culture and a photo series on cultural diversity. There is an entry fee but it is nominal. For non-Spanish speakers be away didactics and information is not also displayed in English so have the Google Translate app ready. Also, you will have to cloak larger bags.

If you are in Coyoacan this is a must see. Right now there is a colourful exhibit of ornamental cats from Peru. The Mexican masks are amazing. The room showing the different costumes worn at various Mexican festivals was beautiful and fun. I also enjoyed the photography exhibit highlighting various food and dishes in different regions across the country. This museum is a true gem!
