Edit: I've adjusted the tone to be less aggressive and more focused on objective issues and areas for improvement, reflecting a more thoughtful and less angry perspective after having time to consider the stay objectively.
Feedback on Our Stay: Areas for Improvement While we appreciated the quality of the pastries served, we found that the overall experience at this hotel fell short of expectations, particularly concerning value, dining, and the condition of some facilities. Dining and Transparency Concerns The buffet selection was limited, and many of the savory dishes were significantly over-spiced.
A deeper concern was the lack of clarity regarding drink charges. Placing sodas right by the buffet led us to assume they were included, only to be presented with a surprising $5 charge for a single Coke. This price is quite high, and the placement felt less like a service convenience and more like a strategy to generate revenue through misleading presentation.
Service and Hospitality The staff were generally polite, but the service approach felt disingenuous and purely transactional. It was frustrating because seemingly helpful or polite interactions appeared to be immediately followed by an attempt to impose a charge or upsell an extra item. This constant focus on generating revenue through minor fees, rather than genuinely assisting guests, ultimately detracted from the relaxing atmosphere and overshadowed any positive hospitality.
Facilities and Room Amenities The advertised facilities did not entirely align with the reality. The pool area had hygiene issues, specifically with pigeons frequently flying and bathing in the water.
Furthermore, the outdoor pool was super cold, and while the spa offered options, we were disappointed that it lacked alternatives like a warm relaxation pool, which we had hoped for given the temperature of the main pool.
A particularly frustrating issue in the room was the ironing equipment. The ironing board provided was extremely low quality and unstable, frequently coming apart during use, making a necessary task unnecessarily difficult and adding to the overall feeling of low value.
Conclusion For guests who value clear pricing and complete transparency, this hotel presents notable challenges. We believe adopting a more straightforward and inclusive pricing structure would greatly enhance the guest experience and foster long-term loyalty. The accumulation of small frustrations and the constant feeling of being charged for extras unfortunately made the stay less enjoyable than it...
Read moreI would never stay here again. This is supposed to be a 5 star hotel and the staff acts like it is a 2 star hotel. I am extremely disappointed with the lack of hospitality and low effort from the staff as well as how run down this hotel seems to be.
First, the wifi connection was not strong and kept disconnecting and switching to my cellular network. I couldn’t even reach a signal at all my first night on my work laptop.
The water also did not drain properly in my shower and there would just be water left on the shower floor overnight. Also, the shampoo/shower gel was out. Why would they not replenish this all the way to the top knowing a guest is coming? Also, why is a 5 star hotel using a combined soap for both shampoo and body? I think even motels have a separate soap for shampoo and body. This just goes to show how low quality this hotel is.
The ironing board was also broken in my room and super cheap material. The ironing board cover was this cheap cloth.
The only photo I took was the disgusting cup at the gym. It was dark in the gym and I drank out of it without seeing and I was disgusted to find out there was something gross at the top.
Lastly, the service here is incredibly disappointing. I asked a recommendation for a hammam and one of the receptionist gave one to me. She then let me know it was cash only and I told her I didn’t have cash and asked her for another recommendation and she said no. Then, as I was checking out and letting the receptionist know how disappointed I was with my experience here, he told me he couldn’t do anything and I would have to wait more than an hour to talk to a manager. I asked to speak to someone else and I spoke to the guest experience manager who also didn’t seem to care. He too off 230 Dirham ($25 usd) from my room service bill. He did not once apologize or show any sort of understanding. And not to mention, when I was leaving, none of the staff even bothered to help me carry my luggage down the stairs to my taxi.
What kind of 5 star hotel is this? This hotel needs serious upgrades and their entire staff needs...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed at Barcelo Anfa in Casablanca for a month and a half while my husband was working there. I can’t say enough about the outstanding experience at this hotel. I want to thank everyone at Barcelo for making our stay as pleasant as possible. Everyone, literally everyone, was always pleasant, ready to help with a smile on their face! First of all, let me tell you how great their breakfast is! The variety of food is amazing, all fresh, with many local Moroccan dishes that we enjoyed so much. But the staff at breakfast left an even better impression. Imane is an absolute angel! She will take care of you, no matter what you need. Sara and all the other staff were just as good. We stayed there for a while, but only after two days we did not have to ask for our coffee and delicious Moroccan tea; they were there on the table before we even asked. The managers and the front desk were terrific. Always ready to help. Very special thank you to Nabila and Beatriz for your beautiful genuine smiles and the invaluable advice that you gave me. You both made me feel so welcome and helped me navigate Morocco during our stay. Housekeeping deserves a special thank you as well. Sara was amazing; she got to know me, my schedule, and my needs. She really went out of her way! She would bring me extra water in the middle of the day or even little treats. Two times I received beautiful bouquets of flowers from housekeeping manager Hasnaa, who is so sweet and caring, and Sara. Why? Just because they are amazing! Also, all the ladies received a rose for International Women’s Day! Way to go, Barcelo! You really made us feel special! Barcelo is in a great location, was very convenient for our purposes. Many restaurants and walking distance to the Hassan II Mosque and the Corniche. The rooms are very nice and clean with a unique design. Overall, it was an amazing experience. Big thank you to the management for putting together such a great team. They really...
