I did the 6 night beginner kite package in Essaouira in May this year. It was such a fantastic trip, and I will definitely be returning in the future. The value you get in the package is incredible, the people I met and the experiences I had made it absolutely unforgettable. I enjoyed it so much that I actually extended my time in Essaouira, I found it really hard to leave!
Explora has their base in a super convenient spot, right on the beachfront, meaning that setting up and starting the lesson is really efficient and you get maximum time on the water. From the moment you walk in, you feel like a part of the Explora family! Everybody is friendly and chatty, and there is always someone making you laugh or putting a smile on your face. You can tell that these guys love their jobs and are so passionate about what they do. Explora has really struck the perfect balance of a smooth, professional and efficient operation with relaxed and easygoing vibes.
The 12 hours of lessons included in the package are super flexible, meaning that I could have a rest day if needed, and the lessons could be scheduled for the best conditions, ensuring I got the most out of my time. I chose the semi-private lessons, and because it wasn't too busy at that time of year, for many of my lessons I was lucky enough to be given one on one instruction.
At the end of my lessons I received a certificate stating how many hours of instruction I had undertaken, and the level of kitesurfing that I had displayed. This certification means I can now hire kitesurfing equipment in the future, in many different locations all over the world.
My instructor Simo was fantastic, he structured my lessons in a way that helped my progress quite quickly, and throughout the lessons I was able to go from a complete beginner (never flown a kite before), to confidently getting up and riding on my own, and even starting to ride upwind! Simo made me feel confident in my ability, he was directive when I needed a push out of my comfort zone, and supportive when I was struggling or frustrated. Each lesson he had new skills to work on, and shared new information with me, this meant that the lessons were interesting each day, and never felt repetitive or boring. I really appreciated that he taught me about many aspects of kitesurfing, not just the physical 'how to do it', but also some more in-depth information about equipment, safety, set up, reading conditions, etiquette, etc. This meant that by the end, I really felt like I was set up to pursue kitesurfing as a personal hobby (without being a liability to myself or other people!).
Riad Bianca (the accommodation that was a part of my package) is such a beautiful place to stay. Zahira and Momo are so kind and warm, and made me feel at home straight away. The whole riad is neat and tidy, and it was really nice to have a relaxing space to return to after a busy day. The majority of people staying there were also doing lessons at Explora, creating a real community vibe that meant it was really easy to get chatting to people and make friends. The breakfast that is included every morning is absolutely amazing!
Overall, the whole experience was incredible, and I can't recommend it enough! Every single aspect of the Explora package contributed to creating such a unique and memorable holiday....
Read moreMy fiancé and I recently embarked on a thrilling adventure at the Kite Surfing Club in Essaouira, Morocco, and I can confidently say that it was an experience of a lifetime! With absolutely no previous kite surfing knowledge, we enrolled in a 21-hour course to become autonomous in kite, and the outcome exceeded our expectations.
From the moment we stepped foot into the club, we were greeted by a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff members were friendly, approachable, and incredibly knowledgeable about kite surfing. Our instructor, Karim, deserves special recognition for his outstanding guidance and expertise.

The location of the club couldnât have been more perfect. Essaouiraâs picturesque coastline provided the ideal setting for learning and practicing kite surfing.    Read morePositive: Good and friendly coaches, had a lot of fun, excellent equipment, flexibility, they are always reachable, awesome hostel staff
Negative: As on the internet written the kite package includes breakfast as well as bbq/moroccan dinner (exactly mentioned like the breakfast). Arriving there I was being told that there is only one dinner in total and not every day. On the first days everyone there told me he/she was not responsible for this part and told me to ask the other one. Sadly, the manager Anas tried to convince me every day that there is no dinner every day, that they couldnât do anything about it or would give me one extra dinner for free, but nothing else. In my opinion it is a clear misunderstanding on their part for which they should come up. In the end we had to discuss with Anas in a very unprofessional and unfriendly way being accused with the assumption we would have searched the website in order to find a way to reduce the price (definitely wrong) and that we were proud to do that (definitely not). In the end we got some money back after a long and unprofessional discussion. When my course started there was no one else they could give me as a partner as I had booked the partner lessons and no private lessons. So they started to try to sell me the private lessons, but I declined because of the higher price (I didnât know that I was the only âkite-learnerâ at that point). So far so good. Instead of jumping over his own shadow and letting a trainer giving me private lessons as there was no other client, Anas made sure I had a partner by making a friend my âpartnerâ who didnât really want to learn kiting and also was absolutely not capable of doing so. Also they tried to sell me that she was a customer as well but suddenly on the third day she worked behind the desk⊠I know that I booked a partner course so there is nothing huge to complain about concerning this point, but itâs sad that they canât be honest or maybe also be just realistic and generous and not make situations more complicated than they are.
Concluding I can recommend Explora besides these points and the unprofessional behaviour besides some people mentioned above. I also would like to say that there are many other coaches who are very friendly,...
