Kumbheshwar Temple, located in the historic city of Patan (Lalitpur), Nepal, is one of the oldest and most revered Hindu temples in the Kathmandu Valley. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this five-tiered pagoda-style temple stands as a remarkable example of traditional Newar architecture and religious devotion. Built in the 14th century by King Jayasthiti Malla, Kumbheshwar Temple is one of only two five-storied temples in the valley, the other being Nyatapola in Bhaktapur. The temple complex includes several shrines, rest houses (sattals), and a sacred pond known as Kumbheshwar Pokhari. According to local belief, the pond is connected to the holy Gosaikunda Lake in the Himalayas, making it especially sacred during the festival of Janai Purnima, when thousands of pilgrims gather here for ritual bathing. The temple is not only a center for worship but also a living heritage site where traditional rituals, music, and festivals are actively celebrated. The intricate wood carvings, stone sculptures, and the overall spiritual ambiance make it a must-visit destination for those interested in history, culture, and religion.

It is religious worship place . Here marriage is also done . People come here mainly evening time with candle or oil lamp to worship goddess . Here people come here to drink pure and natural water that come inside the mountain .

It is situated between patan durbar square , imukhel children park and sankhamul .

Speciality of this temple is that near by it there is two Stone tape. one is beside the Bangalamukhi temple which is small but fit to wash clothes for 6-7 people and next across the street of temple which is big in size with more than 5 Stone taps .
