A Fascinating World of Science and Fun at NEMO Amsterdam Located in the heart of Amsterdam, the NEMO Science Museum is an iconic and must-visit destination for science enthusiasts and curious minds alike. Housed in a striking, boat-shaped building designed by renowned architect Renzo Piano, NEMO is the largest science center in the Netherlands and a place where science comes to life in the most interactive and engaging ways. NEMO is not your typical museum—it’s a hands-on experience filled with interactive exhibits that cover a broad range of scientific topics. From physics and chemistry to biology and technology, the museum caters to visitors of all ages. Whether you’re experimenting with water power, learning about the human body, or discovering how light and sound work, the exhibits are designed to spark curiosity and provide fun, educational experiences. One of the most popular features of NEMO is the rooftop terrace, which offers panoramic views of the city and a unique perspective on Amsterdam’s skyline. The terrace also has a café, making it a perfect spot to relax after exploring the museum, while enjoying a cup of coffee and the scenic surroundings. NEMO is especially popular with families and children, as the exhibits are crafted to be both entertaining and educational. However, adults will find plenty to enjoy here as well, from the thought-provoking displays to the hands-on experiments that engage visitors on multiple levels. Whether you’re a science lover or just looking for a unique experience in Amsterdam, NEMO Science Museum is a place where learning and fun go hand-in-hand. It’s a perfect stop for families, travelers, and anyone looking to explore the wonders of science in an engaging and creative environment.

If you visit Amsterdam with your kids, you should not miss visiting the Nemo Science Museum. The museum is a large, five-floor building, beautifully designed in a very beautiful area of Amsterdam. The museum is located in an area considered commercial and great for walking and picnicking. Visiting the museum in the morning will enrich your children's experience, as the museum contains on each of its floors a different experience, from human sciences to mechanical sciences to energy and space. All experiences are available to children by touching, listening, and watching, where children and adults can also enjoy an unforgettable experience. The museum also contains live experiences in its center. When you visit the museum, please try to ask about the date of the live events to watch them with your children. We had a wonderful experience by watching a live show on how to generate energy. It was wonderful, suitable for all ages, and amazing for the little ones. Just so you know, if you are going to visit the museum, please try to coordinate the visit through the hotel to make sure that the visit is available. It is also preferable to reach the museum by public transport or by walking because access by car is very difficult and there are no nearby parking spaces, in addition to the difficulty of the nearby roads and transportation to the museum by car. Many thanks to the museum team for an enjoyable visit. I wish you a nice visit.

On our last day in Amsterdam we had a few hours to kill, we had walked past the museum the day before so decided to go in. We were greeted by the enthusiastic guy behind the ticket desk when we paid, no wait or queue so right in. 2 adults at around €17 each which gets you entry into the Nemo building and also the other across the road. There are handy lockers on the ground floor where you can put coats, bags etc and take a refundable 50c coin. The museum has several floors and is interesting and interactive, with loads to do and see. The lower 2 seemed to be for younger children with a lot of hands on activities then as you progress upwards it caters for older kids and adults. There is also a staffed laboratory on one of the floors which is good for kids. It's a very interesting place and a good place to spend a couple of hours. We finished the visit by using the cafe on the top floor which is well stocked with loads of choice, there is also a bar on this level and clean toilets. There is a big deck just outside the cafe seating area in the style of a ship, on our visit there was construction work taking place but looks like it will be a large outside seating area.

We visited the Nemo Science Museum in Amsterdam with our young family and had a great time. The museum is very interactive and engaging, with lots of hands-on exhibits and experiments to explore. Our kids loved the different play area, the giant bubbles, the chain reactions, and the science lab. There was something for everyone, from toddlers to teens. The museum was quite busy, especially on a rainy day, but we didn't have to wait too long for most of the activities. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the facilities were clean and well-maintained. The only downside was that some of the exhibits could use more explanatory information, preferably not via text, as it was hard to read and understand for younger children and non-native speakers. We would have liked to see more videos, audio guides, or demonstrations to explain the science behind the fun. Parking was close by, about 500m walk from the museum, but pricey. We spent about 4 hours at the museum. We recommend the Nemo Science Museum for anyone looking for a fun and educational day out in Amsterdam. It's a 4-star attraction for sure!

NEMO Science Museum has become a staple for our family during every school break, and it never disappoints. The workshops offered during these breaks are both fun and educational, keeping the kids engaged and excited about learning. One of our favorite features is the rooftop, which is especially delightful in the summer. The panoramic views of Amsterdam coupled with interactive water displays make it a perfect spot for relaxation and exploration. The chain reaction demonstration is always a thrill to watch and remains a highlight of our visits. The museum’s recent renovations have brought in even better interactive exhibitions, providing endless opportunities for both children and adults to dive into the world of science. While the rooftop restaurant offers delicious options, it is a bit on the pricey side. However, the overall experience at NEMO Science Museum makes it worth every visit. There’s always something new to discover, making it a perfect destination for curious minds of all ages.
