Our 12 year old son recently purchased a Mario Bros extension card. When we got home we couldn't work out how to use it so we went back to the store. At the store they explained you need to use the receipt to activate the card.
We explained the person at the teller did not tell our son (or my husband) when they purchased the card that we needed to use the receipt to activate the card. We no longer have the receipt.
The store manager told us that 'everyone knows that you need to use the receipt to activate the card.'
They also told us it was our problem that we didn't know this bit of information and they could not help us any further.
How disappointing they did not consider it a duty of care to explain to a 12-year-old boy that he needed to use the receipt to activate the 25 euro card he had just bought.
In fact both my son and my husband remember the teller asking - 'do you need a receipt'?
One of the other staff members admitted that she usually tells the customer you need to keep the receipt and also either staples or sticks the receipt to the card. Despite this - they did not see that they should have followed this protocol with my son and felt no responsibility in correcting this lack of due process.
What a disappointing response - no obligation to the customer to explain the their system of purchase and no obligation to rectify the situation - and over a 25 euro purchase.
What is even more upsetting is their 'nickle and dimming' of a 12 year old boy who has spent several hours collecting plastic bottles and saving his pocket money to afford the 25 euro purchase.
He is so upset by this experience and also feels responsible for the outcome. We explained that it is not his fault and the store should have explained to him that he needed to use the receipt to activate the card.
We have been a long term customer of Media Markt (including laptops and iphones) but now feel very strongly against purchasing from them in the future. Please reconsider your...

Read moreFor six month I asked for a JBL gaming headphone and they just said that the product is not in the stock and may be it would be provided by the next weeks, I went there several times, but the same scenario happened. Still if you go there you can see the same product with the different prices and they even do not know what is the actual price is. Finally I ordered it online to pick up at store. There was a trouble during ordering the products and the system did not accept my gift card because of the bug. After getting the email that said my products are ready to pick up at store I went there to pick up my orders. But the staff just told me that your product still not at the store and she several times told me "do you understand what she said" and she repeats her sentence several time. Offensive staff with no feeling about their responsibility. When you ask about any product they won't help you, just look at your face and give you incorrect information. Tribble customer service. May be in the past Media Market was a nice place to buy products but now it is awful. If you read the recent reviews you can find out it becomes tribble place with unpleased staffs. Definitely you will have a tribble...
