I have been to Amsterdam many times and have seen this place for years. My friends and I decided to come here based on the reviews and booked two days in advance.

Our reservation was for 7:45PM. We were seated immediately by the sea front which was nice. In this venue you scan a QR code to order what you want. Our server did warn us that things come out as they are ready so we ordered our starters first and then about 10 minutes later (around 5 minutes to 8) we ordered the mains.

The starters arrived pretty much together. We had deep fried prawn dumplings which came piping hot and were lovely. We also had a barbecue pork rice style crepe which arrived nearly cold!

About two minutes later my main arrived (which was a peanut chicken dish) no rice that I had ordered arrived with this and the dish was only luke warm. I then proceeded to wait 20 minutes for my fried rice accompaniment.

My friends who ordered the sweet and sour dishes with rice got one of the rices at the time mine arrived (but no main dish arrived) she waited another 20 minutes and by that time the rice was freezing. She had to ask for fresh rice for her meal. Which was provided.

My other friend didn’t get either her main or rice and they only copped this at 5 minutes to nine. She only started eating her meal at 9!!!

Nobody serving seemed to have a clue what was going on. Our server kept saying that our order got lost and although he said he was sorry and offered some drinks on the house.

If we’d have had the food hot and on time then maybe this place would have got a 4 star review.

When getting the bill I asked to speak to a manager and explained the situation. He was very understanding and took on board the feedback and we settled this...

If you're in Amsterdam and love Chinese food, this place is a MUST!!!

Went on a Monday night at 7:30pm and the place was packed! Great sign. We had a reservation, so we were seated immediately. We had 8 people around a large round table and had plenty of room. Was also smaller 2 and 4 person tables.

The decor was fantastic! Very well done in authentic Chinese style. Vibrant colors, lots of greenery and Chinese history. You feel surrounded by it.

They have just one person order for the table. You order by text. When you order, be aware that the appetizers and main courses are meant to be shared by everyone at the table. Each person at the table got an entree and it was the right amount of food. Portions are perfect, not "American sized".

Out of all the appetizers, the salt and pepper squid was the best. Amazing texture and taste. So fresh!

For entrees, the hands-down favorite was the Peking Duck. We got a whole duck for the table and it was plenty of food. The duck skin was so sweet and crispy, and the meat was so savory.

We also got lemon chicken, Char Siu, beef with noodles, fried pork belly, and spare ribs. All were incredibly flavorful. I'd say the noodles and the lemon chicken were the best of all. Took a little work to get the rib meat off the bone.

Service was timely and courteous. She was very patient with our party. Came by many times.

Was very surprised by the amount we paid, just 442 euro. The duck alone was 80 euro and we all had drinks. Split 8 ways, it was rather inexpensive for the quality and...

Food We ordered four menus for a group of six, expecting a proper meal for everyone. Instead, we were served shared plates that seemed more like a joke than a dining experience—barely enough for four. The quality of the food was highly questionable. Out of six people, three suffered stomach issues within 30 minutes. To make matters worse, the dirty state of the toilets suggested we weren’t the only ones with such concerns.

As for taste? The mango cheesecake was, without exaggeration, the most revolting dessert I’ve ever encountered. One plate of duck was acceptable, while the other was excessively fatty. The dumplings were the only saving grace, and even they were just “fine.” Service The service was shockingly poor. Despite the restaurant being practically empty, we were told to wait an hour for a table. When we returned, the second host couldn’t even find our reservation. It was only after insisting that it suddenly “appeared,” and we were finally seated.

The staff’s attitude was beyond rude. For instance, when the waitress brought the wrong iced tea, we politely asked for it to be changed, only for her to roll her eyes at us. Such unprofessionalism is unacceptable. Atmosphere The interior is admittedly charming, which is the only reason I’m giving this place even one star. But good decor doesn’t make up for terrible food, poor service, and an overall...

We got in after about a 10 minute wait without a reservation on a busy Sunday evening in early November. The menu is only available via a QR code & they have Wi-Fi so that was no problem. The problem was deciding what to order. We ended up getting the signature menu. I can't remember what dim sum we got but they were very good. They have a crunchy chile sauce that's wonderful, it's not hot at all. The Kung pao was my favorite main dish, especially with the crunchy chile. The duck was a close second. The fried rice & prawns were very good. All of the dishes were things we could get in the States. We had enough to take some back to our hotel room. Which was good because we were jet lagged, so when we woke up at 2:30am in Amsterdam it was our dinner time back home. Or lunch. My timing is still off, as I'm writing this at our hotel waiting for our cruise to start a couple days later. Anyway, it's a great location by the central station & not far from the hotel. It was 118 euros so more than that in USD. It's Amsterdam, don't expect bargain basement prices. The waiter was very nice & helpful but he was busy so he didn't come around as often as we're used to back home. I don't blame him for the 3 star service rating - maybe that's par for the course in Europe? Anyway, the food was great & we were satiated.

After reading several glowing reviews about Sea Palace, I had high expectations for an exceptional dining experience in a unique location. Unfortunately, my visit was far from satisfying. While the floating restaurant’s décor and initial ambiance were impressive, reminiscent of traditional Chinese architecture, this is where the positives end. The food, which is the heart of any restaurant, was extremely overpriced and mediocre at best. Every dish lacked depth and genuine flavor, leaving me and my guests quite underwhelmed. It became clear very quickly that we were paying for the novelty of the location rather than the quality of the cuisine. The service was also disappointing. We were advised to order all our dishes together, yet the food arrived one dish at a time. There were four of us, and at least one person was always left waiting, making it impossible to enjoy the meal together. The gaps between servings were uncomfortably long, creating a disjointed and frustrating experience. To put it bluntly, my local Chinese restaurant in London serves far superior food at a fraction of the cost. Sea Palace, while visually appealing, fails to deliver on taste or value. I would only recommend a visit for the scenic view, but if you are looking for a quality meal, you’re better off elsewhere.
