I remember this place as a place I used to visit when I was a child for weddings from my parents’ friends. My girlfriend and I were craving for some Chinese lobster and Peking duck. We have made the reservation a few days in advance, so it is recommend to do the same! Food: The food is in one word described, it is MARVELOUS. Sea Palace is one of the best if not THE BEST Chinese cuisine of Amsterdam. The garlic, ginger lobster is just stunning. And the Peking duck.. just look at the marbeling, the crunch, say no more! If you wondering how it looks like go watch my video that I’ve uploaded. Service: The service is awesome. The gentleman that serves us is just a MVP of their team. It was quite a show to see how he serves the duck to us. We had a spot at the windows it was an amazing view. The bill came quick aswell, and the price is worth it. Atmosphere: Since there are problems with finding employees they only open one side of the restaurant. However it still is a nice place to sit, the interior is very oriental. Just how a upper class Chinese restaurant should be. Thankyou team Sea Palace for having us, and see you next time! 5 stars!!

Being in the location it was in (right in the center, 5 mins walk from Centraal & on the water) & the decor of the external and internal of the restaurant, I was expecting the tourist traps of tourist traps but to my surprise it was quite authentic. I loved that the team were a mixture of your traditional all business Chinese waiters and a more modern servers you’d expect serving you at the cool nightclub than a Chinese restaurant. They also had the serving robots that brings the food to the tables too. We went there for dim sum. It was what you would expect from yum cha. We got the cold and hot chicken feet, prawn and duck cheung fun, beef ho fun, mixed beef innards & mixed platter of roast duck & crispy pork. Everything was delicious, the standout was the beef ho fun, the ho fun was soft & bouncy and there was plenty of beef, onion and beanshoots which makes the dish. The only thing I would say was the crispy pork meat was a little too salty and the beef innards needed a little bit more seasoning but nothing the chili oil couldn’t fix! Definitely worth a visit when in Amsterdam!

I have been to Amsterdam many times and have seen this place for years. My friends and I decided to come here based on the reviews and booked two days in advance. Our reservation was for 7:45PM. We were seated immediately by the sea front which was nice. In this venue you scan a QR code to order what you want. Our server did warn us that things come out as they are ready so we ordered our starters first and then about 10 minutes later (around 5 minutes to 8) we ordered the mains. The starters arrived pretty much together. We had deep fried prawn dumplings which came piping hot and were lovely. We also had a barbecue pork rice style crepe which arrived nearly cold! About two minutes later my main arrived (which was a peanut chicken dish) no rice that I had ordered arrived with this and the dish was only luke warm. I then proceeded to wait 20 minutes for my fried rice accompaniment. My friends who ordered the sweet and sour dishes with rice got one of the rices at the time mine arrived (but no main dish arrived) she waited another 20 minutes and by that time the rice was freezing. She had to ask for fresh rice for her meal. Which was provided. My other friend didn’t get either her main or rice and they only copped this at 5 minutes to nine. She only started eating her meal at 9!!! Nobody serving seemed to have a clue what was going on. Our server kept saying that our order got lost and although he said he was sorry and offered some drinks on the house. If we’d have had the food hot and on time then maybe this place would have got a 4 star review. When getting the bill I asked to speak to a manager and explained the situation. He was very understanding and took on board the feedback and we settled this before we left.

After reading several glowing reviews about Sea Palace, I had high expectations for an exceptional dining experience in a unique location. Unfortunately, my visit was far from satisfying. While the floating restaurant’s décor and initial ambiance were impressive, reminiscent of traditional Chinese architecture, this is where the positives end. The food, which is the heart of any restaurant, was extremely overpriced and mediocre at best. Every dish lacked depth and genuine flavor, leaving me and my guests quite underwhelmed. It became clear very quickly that we were paying for the novelty of the location rather than the quality of the cuisine. The service was also disappointing. We were advised to order all our dishes together, yet the food arrived one dish at a time. There were four of us, and at least one person was always left waiting, making it impossible to enjoy the meal together. The gaps between servings were uncomfortably long, creating a disjointed and frustrating experience. To put it bluntly, my local Chinese restaurant in London serves far superior food at a fraction of the cost. Sea Palace, while visually appealing, fails to deliver on taste or value. I would only recommend a visit for the scenic view, but if you are looking for a quality meal, you’re better off elsewhere.

I love Chinese and Asian food but this restaurant was one of the worst experience of my life. Everything started when the waitress decided to write my name as it pleases her even if I insisted to write Gauthier instead of Gucci. And then justifying this unprofessional behaviour by saying « this is just a name sir ». Well I should have called her Karen, after all this is just a name. Then, the environment is great if you do not want to have a classical way of being served at a restaurant. Waiter and waitress just bring food, you order and do the rest on your phone. Really interesting way to bring more social experience to your evening. The food was okish. As good as a good all you can eat to give an idea. Looking at the price we paid 100€ for 2 I would suggest you to avoid this place. Finally, the waitress at the end pushed me to give a tip. I said 100€ and she typed down 115 on her machine, I said no 100€ and she said « oh I thought you gave a tip ». First time of my life. In brief, do not go there if you want professional service and good food. If you want an atypical place and good view, you can try.

I was a walk in in a busy day... it was pretty full, but after a few moments of looking through the register, they told me if I could finish my meal in about 90 minutes they had a place they could seat me.... very accommodating, friendly, and helpful... I certainly would make a reservation next time. I orderd the Kung Pao Chicken... the flavor was outstanding, it was lightly spiced... not too much just enough. Easily the best I have ever had. I also orderd the chicken spring rolls with bean sauce. This was OK. Not that there was anything wrong with it, just personal preference on flavors and texture... still good, just not my favorite... they were very crisp, fresh, and hot.... quality was excellent. I also had the pineapple ginger sparkler (non-alcoholic)...I'm not a huge fan of ginger beer but I love pineapple... this was amazing to say the very least.... it was an excellent treat. The price is a little higher than other places, but the quality and service are amazing... easily worth the extra. I would absolutely go back... easily one of my favorite places, ever.
