Cafe Gollem Amstelstraat — Restaurant in Amsterdam

One of the best bars in the area. The people there are awesome and super chill. You can walk up to anyone and talk, if anything, about the incredible amount of beers in that place. If you're going alone you can sit at the bar, that way people will actually come up to you to strike a conversation and if anything the bartender will be there as he was really awesome to talk to. He knows his beers super well (apparently has taken courses into the history of the beers and tried all of them, which is crazy to me). The place isn't super packed during the weekdays which is great. You can occasionally see people playing board games while having a beer. They have a small collection there. Despite being so easily accessible from the incredibly tourism focuses Rembrandtplein, this bar manages to be a real hidden gem. Gollem runs a few bars spread across Amsterdam and focuses on craft beer.

The Amstelstraat location is very good. It's only small but it has an incredibly expansive beer menu, with a huge selection of bottles pride of place behind the bar. They also have a healthy selection of beers on tap. The bartender was very friendly, and happy to give recommendations.

They accept Visa/Mastercard as well as cash and local cards. It's a small place so order at the bar, but you can pay at the end. They also have a tiny pile of board games.

beer from 23 local breweries, the bartenders are nice, active and friendly. Immediately upon shaking hands, they asked what kind of beer the customer likes, and based on that, the bartender started suggesting a selection. The beers were fresh and that was really noticeable in the taste. There were plenty of options for alcohol content between 3.3-9%.

Their cheeseplatter was excellent and worked nicely with the new england pale ales I had.
