Royal Library — Attraction in The Hague

Very unhelpful and not welcoming at all. I went here to print 1 black & white page for a return label. First, I was told that this should be possible if I have a membership, which I do. I was asking how the printing works and where I need to go, and I got a very strange response asking why I don’t know where to go if I have a membership… They were weirdly suspicious of me and my membership card, while their colleagues were the ones that gave it to me in my last visit. How am I supposed to know where everything is if I’ve only been there once to get a membership? In the end, they said that it’s actually not possible if I will print from a personal device. They only allow for “physical materials” to be copy printed… It became apparent that they just did not want to help me, even though I was very friendly and polite throughout the whole conversation. I really like KB. The staff are very friendly and it is a great place. However, I want remind everyone that this is a public space, so please keep close eye on your belongings. Last Saturday, I lost my water bottle at the designated “Bewaarbak” area for water bottles, which is only about two meters from the information desk. Although there are security cameras at the entrance and the information desk, the striped frosted glass between the water bottle area and the desk obstructs the view, so the footage does not clearly show who took the bottle, making it difficult to track down the person responsible. Therefore, whether you are in the Bewaarbak area or the study zones, please do not let your belongings out of your sight to avoid losing them.
